Project Aces released a new music video that will likely make fans of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War tear up.
The video features a brand new performance of the legendary track "Epilogue: Near the Border" performed by an exceptional cast. Composer Junichi Nakatsuru plays the piano, popular guitarist Masahiro Itami caresses the strings, and Kyoka Wada lends her beautiful voice to the song. If her name doesn't ring a bell, she performed "Daredevil" in Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.
As you may expect, it's an absolutely moving performance that breathes new life into this already gorgeous song. You can listen below and try not to tear up. I didn't manage.
The video is the fourth of the "Music Beyond the Sky" series showcasing the franchise's soundtracks performed by famous musicians. It follows another featuring Fire Youngman from Ace Combat 2 which was also performed by Masahiro Itami "A Brand New Day" from Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation performed by pianist Shogo Nomura, and "Magic Spear" from Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, again starring Itami-san.
If you're unfamiliar with the series, the latest game Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The game has revitalized the franchise after a long dormancy, and has sold over 4 million copies as of November 2022. It just celebrated the fourth anniversary of its release last week.
A new game is in development in partnership with ILCA, but we don't know much about the game just yet besides the utilization of Unreal Engine 5. We're still eagerly waiting for new information, and hopefully, Bandai Namco will open the floodgates soon enough.
