The time has finally arrived! The winners of the 2022 Steam Awards have been revealed and we see some interesting games that have made their way to the top of the rankings.
Users have cast their votes, and we now get to see what Steam games were hits within the gaming community. The title that took the Game of The Year title is not shocking, to say the least, as it was also voted GOTY by several other outlets and platforms in 2022. Elden Ring reigns victorious over all other games available on Steam, but it also has taken the title of "Best Game You Suck At", which is scarily accurate. Being a Souls-like, the game is just hard in general, so even though we may feel like a pro for only needing 157 tries to beat that one boss that became the bane of our existence, we all know we could have done better.
Most Innovative Gameplay was taken by Stray, the sweet story of a cat who has fallen within the walls of a horrendous and unforgiving cybercity, and it is up to the players to solve puzzles and uncover the mysteries of this ancient city alongside their trusty drone companion, B-12.
Now, Raft in itself is just fun to play, but we can all agree it is much more entertaining when arguing with friends about who gets to steer the boat. That is why Raft was announced to be the winner of the 2022 Better With Friends award. Though it can be fun to play alone, there is nothing like sailing the open seas with your pals while screeching like wild banshees because a shark has stolen a chunk of wood from your boat.
Every once in a while, players find themselves in need of a break from hectic explosions and sweat-inducing combat sequences. It's at this time in a gamer's life we turn to games like Lego Starwars: The Skywalker Saga and that is exactly why it was the chosen winner of the Sit Back and Relax reward. With its cute Lego characters, a story most know and enjoy, and the feeling it brings just knowing there is no need to rush, it's no wonder people chose this as the game to kick back and relax with.
