11 bit studios publishing will be focusing on much bigger projects in the future. Previously, 11 bit studios — a Polish developer and publisher whose published games from other devleopers include Beat Cop and Moonlighter — had capped their investment into other studios at €450,000. The recent success of Moonlighter has contributed towards them lifting that cap, unlocking "limitless possibilities" for future investment.

A few years ago, the first steps were being taken for 11 bit studios publishing operations. Their published works on Steam are small in number so far, with only SPACECOMBeat Cop, and Moonlighter in their catalog aside from the games they developed in-house. That's set to expand with the upcoming ARPG roguelite Children of Morta and successive projects are going to be even more ambitious than those that came before.

"So far, publishing investments at 11 bit Studios have been capped at about €450,000 per project," Publishing Director Paweł Feldman told GamesIndustry.biz. "Now the cap is gone and we have limitless possibilities," Feldman says. "There won't be 20 to 30 titles per year from our publishing division. 11 bit is not about [throwing] a lot of darts hoping that a few will hit the bullseye. Ultimately, we plan to have four games per year, but only the ones that fit our philosophy."

Previously, 11 bit studios desired to focus on games similar to This War of Mine: games with something special to them. However, the success of Moonlighter has shown that they can also handle publishing games with a broader appeal.

11 bit studios publishing arm currently has two more projects in the works, both of which are going to exceed their defunct €450,000 cap.

"Moonlighter proves we know how to pick up titles," Mr. Feldman continued. "We know how to market these games, we know where our community is, and how to deliver what they expect."
