Just after we finished our interview with Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, we were asked if there was an interest in another interview, this time with Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, one of the directors of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. We of course said yes and started to chat about all things Witcher.

Some of you gave us some questions to ask CD Projekt RED, like if there was any plan for a Witcher 1 and 2 remaster. Konrad said that CDPR has certainly noticed the desire of their fans for remasters, but it didn't sound like there was anything in the works or planned at the moment.

We quickly got into discussion about the Witcher games and the books, where Konrad said the books were their "Bible" for creating the game. There was of course a balance that needed to be struck from taking too much from the book, as Konrad mentioned Witcher 1 had too much of a problem where it took ideas directly from the books themselves. Overtime, that was less of the case, but the books of course stayed a constant guideline.

From there we started talking about Witcher 3's questing and the philosophy behind their design. I mentioned that, by my estimation, all quests had some sort of significance to them, that there were no valueless fetch quests or the like. Konrad said that CDPR was all about evoking emotion in one form or another, drawing out something narratively from their players. That if they did not strive to do that, they were not offering anything of value to players. So all of the details needed to be taken into consideration to deliver that feeling to players.

We of course talked about much more, including some more on Gwent itself. After the interview, Konrad mentioned it was he that really pushed for Gwent to be put in The Witcher 3, so we all have him to thank for the new Gwent game. Check out the video below for the full interview, which includes more details and discussion. Also, check out this interview with CDPR, which is all about Gwent.
