What is a Common Log in Survival: Fountain of Youth?

A Common Log is an item in Survival: Fountain of Youth that is pretty self-descriptive -- it's a big log that you can get from a tree. These items are necessary for Crafting some of the larger items in the game, so you'll definitely need to track one down sooner rather than later.

Common Logs are different from most other resources in one particular way -- they're so large that you cannot carry them in your inventory. Instead, you can only carry one Common Log at a time on your shoulder. Alternatively, you can Craft a Log Cart to carry multiple Common Logs at a time. This is a good idea once you start needing large amounts of Common Logs for Buildings, Boats, or other Crafting items.

Where to Get a Common Log in Survival: Fountain of Youth

You can get a Common Log in Survival: Fountain of Youth by cutting down any one of the following trees:

• Small Palm
• Mahogany Tree
• Bread Tree
• Pterodon
• Chinese Palm
• Coconut Palm
• Date Palm
• Orange Tree
• Eucalyptus
• Platonia
• Cannonball
• Dead Tree
• Terminalia
• Peacock Flower

Not all of these trees are available in the same Map Region. For example, you won't find any Cannonball in the Bird Region -- you'll have to make a Boat and travel to the Buffalo Region to find those.

You can't get a Common Log without an Axe, so make sure that you Craft an Axe before heading out to get one. You'll only be able to carry one Common Log at a time, too, and some of these trees will drop two -- be prepared to make multiple trips.

Remember: cutting down a tree will permanently prevent its resources from respawning! It's a good idea to Craft a Log Cart and collect Common Logs from trees that are a distance away from your camp so you'll preserve the respawning resources from trees nearby. If you do decide to cut down a tree, make sure to harvest all of its other resources (such as Narrow Leaves, Coconuts, etc.) before you cut the tree down!
