Where to Find the Grappling Hook in Green Hell

In this guide, we'll tell you where to find the Grappling Hook in Green Hell, getting you access to Lambda 2 and other areas of the jungle.

If you've never played Green Hell, it may be helpful to read through our Starter Guide first. It will help you get set up with renewable Food and Water, set up a base, and equip yourself with basic Weapons and Armor.

Preparing to Get the Green Hell Grappling Hook

We're going to have to make a lengthy journey. Before you leave, you should make sure you have all (or at least most) of these items:

• 1 Stone Spear
• 1 Stone Axe
• 1 Bow
• A full set of Bone Armor
• 3 Dry Leaves
• 3+ pieces of Dried Capybara Meat or Dried Peccary Meat
• 2 Coconut Bidons filled with Water (Clean)
• 10+ Arrows
• 2 Leaf Bandages

You'll also need to complete the Ayahuasca event at the abandoned Tribal Village near the starting area if you haven't already.

Make sure your Macroelements are as full as possible before leaving.

Heading to the Jeep

Our first step in the journey will be to head to a crashed Jeep at 44W, 17S. To get there, we're going to need to go down the road past the abandoned Tribal Village and head through the stone door.

This area has a lot of opportunities to find useful stuff. Take advantage of opportunities where you can, but don't fret too much about carrying everything home with you -- you can always come back here later!

Once you're through the stone doorway, turn right and head towards this canyon:

Head north and try to keep heading north as much as possible.

Before you know it, you'll reach a road. This is a sign that you're getting close.

How to Get the Weapon Rack Blueprint at The Tribesmen's Camp

While you can head directly to the Jeep, there's a good opportunity to attack a tribesmen's camp. This will unlock some new things for you.

The Tribesmen's Camp is located at 47W, 17S. You can get pretty close to it without aggroing the tribesmen, so it's possible to use it as a waypoint without having any combat.

If you choose to avoid the Tribesmen's Camp, skip to the next section. If you would rather choose to fight (and unlock some new Blueprints), continue reading this section.

Keep heading north past this road until you see this big rock:

Go to the right of the rock, then turn slightly left (towards the north).

Keep the cliff wall to your left. In a few seconds, you'll hear tribesmen singing and you'll see the native camp behind some Trees:

Approach the camp slowly and quietly. You should expect there to be 3 or so tribesmen.

You should be able to get fairly close before anyone notices you.

Shoot and kill any enemies with your Bow. Make sure to recover your Arrows from the dead. While you can get Human Meat from the tribesmen, I strongly advise that you do not eat it -- it will cause a severe penalty to Sanity.

The center of the Tribesmen's Camp contains your prize:

This is a Weapon Rack. You can use this to store Weapons and Tools without them decaying on the ground.

Head back to the big rock where you diverted to the tribesmen's camp at 48W, 18S.

Continuing to the Jeep

Once you're at this big rock, turn directly to the right and follow the river.

Heading north from here will lead you to the tribesmen's camp, so don't go there if you want to avoid a fight.

Your next waypoint is this log bridge over the river.

Head directly east until you encounter a dirt road.

Here's what the road looks like:

Follow this road to the North and East.

The road isn't perfect and is occasionally obstructed by logs and the like, but you'll eventually find this point:

Go straight ahead, then turn left once you're past the big rock to your left.

Continue heading north and you'll eventually find the road again.

From here, continue to follow the road; you'll mostly be heading straight north, so it's difficult to miss your target.

In a short time, you'll be at the Jeep!

The Jeep has some packaged Food that never spoils, so you'll definitely want to grab some of that.

Underneath the Jeep is a fuel can. Pick it up.

This Fuel Can is needed to get to the next stage of our journey for the Grappling Hook.

Next to the Fuel Can is a Bidon.

The Bidon is a metal canteen that holds 100 Water instead of 40 like a Coconut Bidon. This is an excellent addition to your equipment.

Once you have the Fuel Can, the Bidon, and the Food (if you want to grab it now), it's time to move on to our next goal: the Elevator.

Moving East to the Elevator

The Elevator is the next stage of our journey. It's mostly to the east and a little south.

Jump up on the destroyed bridge and face East.

Head directly East. You should be able to follow the road for a short distance.

You'll soon encounter this rock archway:

Continue moving forward. Take care not to fall down the cliff to your left.

A few steps beyond the arch, you'll come across this fallen log:

Use this log as a marker and follow it directly ahead.

Your next waypoint is this rock:

To the left of this rock is a cave.

Walk straight ahead into the cave and you'll find an elevator on the other side. Travel slowly with your eyes on the ground as there are venomous Scorpions here -- you don't want to get hit with the Venom debuff!

Interact with the generator to use your Fuel Can and start it up. Take the elevator down.

The Illegal Gold Mine

You'll find a rough wooden path ahead. Head straight north and you'll encounter the Illegal Gold Mine. It's pretty huge, so it's downright impossible to miss it.

That little wooden shack to the right is a staircase leading to a complex of ramshackle buildings down below.

Where to Find the Grappling Hook in Green Hell

You can find the Grappling Hook in Green Hell at the Illegal Gold Mine at 40W, 14S.

Head inside of this building:

Once you're inside, look to the left.

You can find the Grappling Hook sitting on a bench.

You can save your game by interacting with the calendar in the same building. Furthermore, there is plenty of Food to be found here. Make sure to loot what you can from all of the buildings in the Illegal Gold Mine. Don't worry if you can't carry it all -- you can always come back later!

Make especially certain to grab the Painkillers in the wooden medicine cabinet in the first building. Painkillers are one of the best Medicines in the game -- they can reduce Food Poisoning, Venom, and Fever. You can't make them -- you can only find them -- so make absolutely certain that you grab them before you leave!

There's one more item of interest to be found here.

Where to Find the Gold Sack in Green Hell

You can find the Gold Sack in Green Hell at the Illegal Gold Mine at 40W, 15S. It is located in the same room as the Grappling Hook.

Do not pick up the Gold Sack just yet. There is an achievement you can get called "Greedy" which requires you to carry the Gold Sack until the end of the game. You can't put the Gold Sack into storage. That means you'll essentially have to lose a little bit of bag space for the rest of the game as soon as you pick it up.

You can also head to the Northeast and find a mass grave for some extra dialogue if you want to explore that. There are no real items of note in there, though.

You now have a whole bunch of fun new stuff including the Grappling Hook, the Bidon, and possibly the Gold Sack (if you decided to take it).

Returning Home

Now, it's time to return home. Rather than go point by point, it's easiest to follow the previous directions in reverse.

1. Head back up the elevator.
2. Go back through the cave at the top of the elevator. (Remember, watch out for Scorpions!)
3. Make a right once you exit the cave. Head uphill and travel back to the stone archway at 42W, 17S.
4. Head Southwest until you reach the log bridge at 48W, 27S.
5. Cross the log bridge and head south, keeping the cliff wall to your left. You'll eventually make it back to the stone door. From there, you can return home.

Get back home and put all of your newly-acquired goodies away. When you're ready, we can travel to another interesting location: Lambda 2!

How to Get to Lambda 2 in Green Hell

You can get to Lambda 2 in Green Hell once you've gotten the Grappling Hook from the Illegal Gold Mine.

Head to the log bridge away from the starting area and face right:

Head northeast, keeping the cliff wall on your right.

Eventually, you'll encounter a river and a steep cliff leading below at 43W, 27S.

Carefully climb down the cliff and follow the river.

You'll soon encounter a log bridge and a way to back up onto land to your right at 44W, 25S.

Head east from here.

A short while later, you'll come upon a hanging log at 42W, 25S. This is where you use the Grappling Hook.

Walk up to the overhanging log (called a "Climbing Place" and look at it. You'll get a prompt to use the Grappling Hook. Use it, and you'll find yourself at the top.

Head straight ahead (southeast) and you'll encounter a stone circle with a Ritual Bowl -- this is Lambda 2.

You can find an Obsidian Blade and some supplies on the altar. To the West is a Leaf Bed that you can use to sleep if you need to, along with a couple of Coconut Bowls.

Head further southeast and you'll encounter a familiar site:

Another "O-T" stone gate is at 40W, 27S. You'll have to do another Ayahuasca Trip to continue with the story.
