Video Game Releases May 2019: Rage Against the Rats

While there aren't so many big hitters releasing in May, there are still some good titles up for grabs, and a couple of ports that I think people will be excited about. Have a look and see what interests you.

May 2nd

Guard Duty (Microsoft Windows, Mac Os, Linux)

Starting off with an indie this May, Guard Duty releases May 2nd for Microsoft Windows, Mac Os, and Linux. This is an indie point and click adventure spanning across 2 time periods.

VA-11 HALL-A (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4)

Previously coming out on PC and PlayStation Vita VA-11 HALL-A finally makes its way to home consoles on both Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on May 2nd. This is a cyberpunk bar tending simulated visual novel.

World End Syndrome (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4)

A long time since its original release in Japan, World End Syndrome finally sees Western localization for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on May 2nd. This is a romance drama where your choice of partner will affect the end of the world.

May 6th

Death end re;Quest (Microsoft Windows)

Releasing back in February for PlayStation 4, Death end re;Quest now comes to Microsoft Windows on May 6th. This is a turn-based RPG with various ways of playing such as shooter, fighting style or even slots.

May 7th

Puyo Puyo Champions (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows)

Designed around competitive play with your friends Puyo Puyo Champions comes to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows on May 7th. Play against friends and family in both local and online co-op modes.

Shakedown Hawaii (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Microsoft Windows)

From the creators of Retro City Rampage, their long announced follow up Shakedown Hawaii comes out on May 7th for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Nintendo Switch. This 16-bit sandbox is twice the bits of the original.

 

May 9th

Life is Strange 2 Episode 3  - Wastelands (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows)

The third episode of the second season of critically acclaimed Life is Strange, is coming as Life is Strange 2 Episode 3 - Wastelands comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows on May 9th. Continue the brother's story as they journey through Mexico.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 (Microsoft Windows)

Hugely successful on PlayStation 4, one of the highest rated Yakuza games of all time, Yakuza Kiwami 2, comes to Microsoft Windows on May 9th. Play the remake of the second game in the highly popular Yakuza series.

May 10th

Saints Row: The Third (Nintendo Switch)

Originally releasing almost 8 years ago Saints Row: The Third will come to Nintendo Switch on May 10th. The best-received game in the Saints Row series, play as criminal gang turned celebrities in this open world adventure.

May 14th

A Plague Tale: Innocence (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows)

Taking place in the plague era, A Plague Tale: Innocence releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows on May 14th. You play as a brother and sister surviving in the time of the great plague.

Sniper Elite V2 Remastered (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows)

With the original releasing back in 2012 we now have a remaster of the second Sniper Elite game in Sniper Elite V2 Remastered coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows on May 14th. With enhanced graphics, new characters, and an expanded multiplayer mode.

Rage 2 (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows)

Probably the most anticipated release of the month comes as Rage 2 releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows on May 14th. This is a completely open world FPS where you are free to do whatever you want.

May 16th

Bubsy: Paws of Fire! (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows)

Now the sequel to the comeback no-one was asking for Bubsy: Paws of Fire! comes to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows on May 16th. Play as one of 4 playable characters with different move sets in over 100 levels.

Castlevania Anniversary Collection (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows)

Konami is releasing their biggest ever compilation of Castlevania titles when Castlevania Anniversary Collection comes to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows on May 16th. It includes 8 Castlevania titles which are: Castlevania (NES), Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest (NES), Castlevania: The Adventure (Game Boy), Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse (NES), Kid Dracula (Game Boy), Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge (Game Boy), Super Castlevania IV (SNES), Castlevania Bloodlines (Genesis).

Alternate Jake Hunter: Daedalus The Awakening of Golden Jazz (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows)

Also out on May 16th is a game that did really well in Japan, Alternate Jake Hunter: Daedalus The Awakening of Golden Jazz comes to PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows. After his Grandfather's death, Saburo travels to the United States to uncover a unique mystery.

May 21st

Everybody's Golf (PlayStation VR)

Releasing back in 2017 on May 21st Everybody's Golf will release a new mode exclusively for PlayStation VR. Now you can play everybody's favorite chibi golf game in 360-degree vision.

Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows)

The latest in the Atelier Arland series will come to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows on May 21st in Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland. Continue the story that started with Rorona, Totori, and Meruru.

Resident Evil/ Resident Evil 0/ Resident Evil 4 (Nintendo Switch)

Love Resident Evil?  Well, this month on Nintendo Switch you will have three to choose from ports of the HD versions of Resident Evil, Resident Evil 0 and critically acclaimed Resident Evil 4 are all coming on May 21st. They will be for sale separately.

Slay the Spire (PlayStation 4)

While it came out of Early Access earlier this year indie hit Slay the Spire will come to PlayStation 4 on May 21st. This is a turn-based strategy card game. It will also be coming to Nintendo Switch apparently later this year.

Assassin's Creed III Remastered (Nintendo Switch)

While it came out in March for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Assassin's Creed III Remastered comes to Nintendo Switch on May 21st. This includes a remastering of the original Assassin's Creed III and the standalone game Assassin's Creed III Liberation.

Team Sonic Racing (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows)

With Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed first coming out in 2012 it has been a long time waiting for fans of the Sonic Racing series. Team Sonic Racing will come to Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and Xbox One on May 21st.

 

May 23rd

Pathologic 2 - Part 1 (Microsoft Windows)

Coming first to Microsoft Windows but set to release later on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, we have Pathologic 2 -Part 1 on May 23rd.  This is an open world survival horror game

Total War: Three Kingdoms (Microsoft Windows)

The latest in the Total War series, Total War: Three Kingdoms comes to Microsoft Windows on May 23rd. Taking place is 190CE China, we see the country in turmoil as a tyrannical leader takes over the empire.

May 28th

Blood & Truth (PlayStation VR)

A new experience coming exclusively to PlayStation VR Blood & Truth comes out on May 28th. You play as a gangster on the brutal streets of London.

Layers of Fear 2 (PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows)

The sequel to Layers of Fear finally arrives on May 28th when Layers of Fear 2 comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. In this sequel, you play as a disturbed actor.

Oxygen not Included (Mac Os, Linux, Microsoft Windows)

Coming out of Early Access Oxygen not Included comes to Mac OS, Linux, Microsoft Windows on May 28th. From the makers of Don't Starve comes this space colony simulation.

Crystal Crisis (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4)

A color matching puzzle game in the style of a fighting game, Crystal Crisis comes to Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on May 28th. Starring Quote from Cave Story, Isaac from Binding of Isaac and Astroboy.

Lapis x Labyrinth (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4)

The latest NISA RPG Lapis X Labyrinth releases on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on May 28th. Play as 4 protagonists simultaneously as you switch between them.

Guacamelee! One-Two Punch Collection (Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4)

Now you can buy both Guacamelee! titles in one package when Guacamelee! One - Two Punch Collection releases for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on May 28th. The collection includes Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition and its sequel Guacamelee! 2.

May 30th

Conan Unconquered (Microsoft Windows)

Developed by some of the team behind the Command and Conquer series, Conan Unconquered comes to Microsoft Windows on May 30th. This is a strategy game set in the Conan universe.

May 31st

Trover Saves the Universe (PlayStation 4)

From the creator behind Rick and Morty Trover Saves the Universe comes to PlayStation 4 on May 31st. It will also be coming to Microsoft Windows in June.
