Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Spellshot Character

Keeping enemies at a distance can be advantageous, and the versatility of wielding an array of different magical abilities can help turn the tide of battle at any moment. Our Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Spellshot guide can help you learn more about the best builds for this ranged class.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Spellshot Guide - Character Creation

Tiny TIna's Wonderlands Spellshot Character Creation

Before you dive into the enchanting world of Bunkers & Badasses, you'll need to design your very own character! The beginning of this process is mostly cosmetic, giving you the ability to choose body type, facial customizations, voice pitch, and pronouns. With that complete, you'll move into selecting the Spellshot's background.

Your background choices greatly affect your beginning stats, so you want to select stats that best complement your play style. However, you'll be able to further customize your stats on the next screen, so this isn't going to be your final loadout. There are a couple choices that can fair you well as you explore Tiny Tina's Wonderlands.

If you choose Village Idiot, you'll get a 10% increase to critical damage but you'll be reducing spell cooldown by 3%. Your spells will take longer to recharge, but you can compensate with a barrage of bullets, each one capable of dealing extra damage with critical hits.

If you'd like to focus more on the spellcasting, Rogue Alchemist will increase your status damage by 16%, but reduces your critical hit chance by 4% and max HP / Ward (basically a shield) by 5%.

As a Spellshot in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, you'll have the benefit of leaning into both gun damage and status damage to dispatch your foes through the B&B campaign. When it comes to spending Hero Points, min/max to your heart's content.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Spellshot Guide - Skill Tree

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Spellshot Skill Tree

Both the Village Idiot and Rogue Alchemist builds can be key for helping your character wreak as much havoc on the battlefield as possible. Once you get into the game and start leveling up, you'll want to carefully review the skill tree and tailor your build to your gameplay preferences.

For Rogue Alchemist, start by focusing on the left tier of the skill tree to max out your spellcasting abilities.

  • Upgrade Spell Sniper in tier 1 for greater Spell Critical Hit Chance and Font of Mana in the second tier to reduce your Spell Cooldown Rate.
  • Invest enough skill points and you'll get down to tier 4, where you'll want to invest in Imbued Weapon. This can allow guns to deal bonus damage when a spell is cast.
  • When you hit the fifth tier, pick up Double Knot to deal bonus gun damage of your gun's gun's element whenever you score a critical hit with a spell.
  • And finally, in tier 6, unlock Sever the Thread, which grants the ability to instantly reset all spell cooldowns when you score a critical hit with your gun. Tailor your skill points to critical damage, and you'll be tearing down enemies in a flurry of magic and gunfire.

If you go for the Village Idiot Spellshot, you can focus on becoming more of a tank.

  • In Tier 1, Magic Bullets ensures that a portion of all increases you receive to spell damage will also be applied to gun damage.
  • In tier 2, Magic Armor can restore a portion of your Ward whenever you gain a stack of Spellweaving, helping to keep you protected.
  • Tier 4 offers War Caster, which can instantly reload your gun whenever a kill is made. This chance increases per stack of Spellweaving. Add on One Slot, One Kill in tier 5 to gain increased gun damage per stack of Spellweaving.
  • Close out this build with Sever the Thread in the final tier, while also adding skill points to your Dexterity to virtually eliminate long cooldowns for your spells.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Spellshot Guide - Hero Stats and Gear

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Spellshot Stats & Gear

As you level up in Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, you can increase individual hero skills in addition to building out your skill tree. The background you choose determines the max values of these skills, which is why it's an important choice.

For either build, I recommend dedicating points to Dexterity and Strength so that you can deal critical damage at every available opportunity. This means your health won't be able to take too many hits, so keep an eye out for powerful Wards with fast regeneration to keep you on your feet, and keep moving to best dodge incoming projectiles.

Your melee abilities will be less effective in the early game, so invest more in your long-range spells and practice quickly switching between spells and firearms. Once you level up a bit, you'll unlock the ability to dual wield spells, giving you greater capability to focus on elemental damage, healing spells, or other magic.

Where the Spellshot is a ranged class by design, your weapon loadout should include a variety of pistols, SMGs and assault rifles, anything that'll allow you to deal critical damage from a distance. The more perks you collect for elemental damage, the more effective you'll be at taking down large crowds. This is especially helpful when going up against hordes of skeletons, goblins or other grunts.

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Spellshot Guide - Strengths and Drawbacks

Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Spellshot

Like any RPG, no single class is going to be perfect; what's important is finding the right class that's perfect for your play style. The Spellshot builds described in our Tiny Tina's Wonderlands Spellshot guide are great when attacking enemies from a distance, but you'll be more vulnerable when faster enemies close the distance to strike you with melee attacks. You'll also find heavily armored enemies present a particular challenge, but with the right combination of elemental spells and gunfire, you'll be able to dispatch those so long as you dodge the more powerful attacks. If you choose to invest in more damage-heavy skills, be sure to compensate with a powerful Ward and any healing abilities you find to keep you on the ground longer.
