Once you've got the basics down in Survival: Fountain of Youth, you're going to want to start collecting resources to increase your chances of survival. You'll need Food and Water, of course, but you're also going to need to Craft some useful things so you can survive in the long term.
How Crafting Works in Survival: Fountain of Youth
Survival: Fountain of Youth Crafting is pretty much in line with what you would expect for a survival game. You can Craft some items by hand, but other items will require tools and/or workbenches to make them. Here's an example of a little more complex Crafting:
Crafting has a few key elements:
- Blueprint - The recipe for Crafting an item. You can't Craft items without having the Blueprint.
- Result - The center of the screen is dedicated to the finished product, showing you the item and telling you technical details about it.
- Requirements - As you might expect, all Crafted items have ingredients that you'll need. This is where they're listed.
- Process Properties - This shows a few more things that you'll need to Craft an item:
- Tool Durability - In some cases, Crafting an item will require a tool. Crafting the item will reduce the Tool's Durability. Leveling up the Crafting Skill can increase the Durability of your Crafted items, including all of the tools you'd use to make other items.
- Workbench - Some Crafting recipes require you to use a Workbench. In some cases, these Workbenches operate passively (such as the Kiln).
- Process Duration - All Crafting processes take time. This time can be reduced by leveling up the Crafting Skill. The Crafting process can be interrupted if you're in an unsafe area or if your stats will run low by the time the Crafting process would finish.
- Chance of Injury (not depicted) - Some Crafting recipes (as well as Gathering tasks) run the risk of injuring you. The chance of injury can be reduced by leveling up the Crafting Skill.
Many of the resources used in Crafting will regenerate (called "Restore") after a few days to a few weeks. Keep in mind, however, that certain items (such as the Common Log) require destroying a resource node. Don't run around cutting down trees carelessly!
And that's it! Get the ingredients, Craft the item in the menu (or at a Workbench), and wait for some time to pass -- you're done!
How to Unlock Crafting Recipes in Survival: Fountain of Youth
There are four ways to unlock Crafting Recipes in Survival: Fountain of Youth:
- Studying all of the listed items for an item by picking them up or Crafting them. For example, picking up a single Small Branch will unlock several recipes.
- Reading certain Skill Books.
- Finding Recipes.
- Investing in certain Survival Abilities.
Best Items to Craft First in Survival: Fountain of Youth
These are the best items to Craft first in Survival: Fountain of Youth, in order:
- Primitive Leaf Bed - This allows you to safely sleep and recover energy in the Grotto.
- Box Made of Branches - This will let you store items away.
- Stone Axe (if needed) - This opens up access to a lot more resources.
- Stone Cutter (if needed) - This gives you access to more resources.
- Stone Spear (if needed) - This allows you to defend yourself. While you can make a Wooden Spear, the Stone Spear only takes a little extra work, has more Durability, and deals more damage.
