Our Sugardew Island Animals Guide tells you how you can unlock animals, how you can feed them, and how you can earn money by selling their produce.

Early Game Quests at the Harmony Tree Showing Sugardew Island Animals Unlocks
You'll be able to complete some early-game quests to unlock animals.

How to Get Sugardew Island Animals on Your Farm

You can get Sugardew Island animals on your farm by completing quests to unlock them and purchasing them from Tomte the merchant next to the Harmony Tree. There are no farm animals available for purchase at the start of the game.

First, a distinction needs to be made — animals are creatures such as cows, chickens, and sheep that will produce goods for you as long as they're fed. You can also get one pet to follow you around, but pets are a luxury that don't really earn you any money.

The first animals you can unlock are the cow and the chicken by completing the first quests for Deer Island and Owl Island, respectively. You will also need to grow food on the farm to feed your animals.

There are two types of animals (excluding pets): coop animals and barn animals. You can have a total of 3 animals in the coop and 3 animals in the barn until you unlock the upgrades for these two buildings.

Feeding Animals via the Silo in Sugardew Island
Animals can be fed by interacting with the Silo in the top right of the barnyard. You'll need to have one piece of Wheat for each animal every day.

How to Feed Animals

You can feed animals in Sugardew Island by interacting with the Silo and feeding them Wheat. You can either feed one Wheat to select animals, or you can feed all animals in the Coop and Barn, respectively, by clicking on the "Feed All" buttons.

As a general rule, you'll want to reserve 1 tile of Wheat on your farm for each animal.

How to Unlock More Animals

You can unlock more animals by completing quests at the Harmony Tree.

Here are the quests you need to complete to unlock Animals:

  • Chicken: Owl Island Level 1
  • Duck: Owl Island Level 3
  • Goose: Owl Island Level 5
  • Cow: Deer Island Level 1
  • Goat: Deer Island Level 3
  • Sheep: Deer Island Level 5

How to Sell Animals

Unfortunately, you can't sell animals in Sugardew Island. However, you can release them at Tomte the merchant if you want to replace one of your animals with another one. You won't earn any money by releasing an animal.

Animals with Produce Available in Sugardew Island
Animals will produce milk or eggs every day as long as you remember to feed them.

Animal Purchase Costs

Here is what it costs to purchase each type of animal once you've unlocked them by completing the appropriate quests. Note that Tomte the merchant randomly sells one of multiple color options for each animal every day.

  • Chicken: 500 Sugardew
  • Duck: 1,000 Sugardew
  • Goose: 1,500 Sugardew
  • Cow: 1,000 Sugardew
  • Goat: 2,000 Sugardew
  • Sheep: 3,000 Sugardew

Animal Produce List

Here are the items each animal produces as long as it has been fed the previous day. All animals produce at least one item per day, and a higher relationship with an Animal produces additional goods.

  • Chicken: Chicken Eggs (20 Sugardew)
  • Duck: Duck Eggs (50 Sugardew)
  • Goose: Goose Eggs (140 Sugardew)
  • Cow: Cow's Milk (30 Sugardew)
  • Goat: Goat's Milk (90 Sugardew)
  • Sheep: Sheep's Milk (280 Sugardew)
