Star Wars Jedi Survivor Stances and Abilities Guide

One of the key points of the gameplay loop in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the lightsaber combat. It’s something you’ll be spending a great deal of time with, whether you’re unlocking new skills, chaining together moves for combos or mixing and matching the various stances to your liking. As such, the development team has sought fit to expand Cal’s lightsaber stance kit to a total of five different types – each of which offer up a new gameplay experience depending on which you end up equipping. Here's the important Star Wars Jedi: Survivor abilities and stances you need to know about!

If you're interested in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor - we've got a full review for you. We've also got you covered on where to catch every fish, the location of every Jedi Chamber, and where to find all of the legendary adversaries.

The Five Lightsaber Stances in Star Wars: Jedi Survivor

While the stances were prominent in the previous title, they’ve really been fleshed out and elevated in Jedi: Survivor in order to amp up the level of customization. The initial stances will be available right out of the gate, with Dual Wield, Crossguard and Blaster unlocking as you play through the main story. Key points in the main scenario will come up so you can’t miss them.

  • Single  - The classic and balanced approach to combat. This stance is said to be reliable in all situations.
  • Double-Bladed - A highly-mobile and energetic approach to combat. The double-bladed stance works best when dealing with a large group of foes at once.
  • Dual Wield - This is a purely offensive approach to combat. Using dual wielding to overwhelm enemies with a flurry of strikes. Attacks can be halted by pressing L1. This stance is unlocked on Coruscant.
  • Crossguard - A low yet lethal approach to combat. The Crossguard stance makes use of powerful swings that can devastate enemies. There are, however, very long wind-ups. This stance is unlocked on the Shattered Moon.
  • Blaster Stance - An unorthodox approach to combat. The blaster stance allows for the coupling of lightsaber and blaster in order to gain an upper hand in ranged combat. This stance is unlocked on Jedah, and you can purchase upgrades from Caij:
    • Charge Shot Area
    • Ricochet
    • Stun Shot

Cal can equip two stances at any given time and can swap between the two freely. The benefit of experimenting with the various stances is that it allows for different gameplay experiences depending on what you pick so give them all a try and see what you become most comfortable with.

In addition to the new stances, there's a number of new abilities for both Cal & BD-1 that players can utilize!

BD-1 Ability List

BD-1 has two new abilities you can make use of in order to help facilitate things like traversal and solving certain puzzles. These abilities, and where to unlock them, are below:

  • BD-1 Electro Dart (Story Unlock, late game)
    • BD-1 can fire a charged dart at exposed electronics in order to do things such as open doors or move platforms as they’re required.
  • Slice -
    • BD-1 has the ability to control damaged droids of many types. You can even use the Electro Dart to tag enemies before the battle starts to get a leg up in combat. You can purchase some upgrades from Caij, or find them around the world:
      • B1 Droid - Purchased from Caij
      • B2 Droid - Purchased from Caij
      • Probe Droid - Purchased from Caij

Additional droid types to slice can be purchased by spending bounty pucks with Caij, located in Pyloon’s Saloon on Koboh after unlocking the bounty mark system, as well as found across the world as outlined above! Many of these things are of course optional, but if you'd like to customize your time with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor even more, they're not a bad thing to get a hold of.
