Some of the missions in STALKER 2 require you to make a choice. The best decisions can earn you some money or artifacts and the bad decisions can cause you to needlessly waste ammo and gun durability. In this guide, we'll tell you the right choice to make for the Deal with the Devil mission!
How to Get the STALKER 2 Deal with the Devil Mission
You'll automatically unlock the STALKER 2 Deal with the Devil mission after completing the mission The Price Goes Up in the Garbage region to confront him. You will learn that a man named Varan is involved with the Scanner operation and you'll have to head to the Plant in the Garbage region.

It's time to dive into our STALKER 2 Deal with the Devil mission walkthrough! It might seem like you have a lot of choices in front of you for this one, but you'll soon find that they all lead to the same point. Let's dive in!
Preparing for the Plant
Regardless of what you do, the Deal with the Devil Mission is going to involve some combat against a minimum of 10 enemies in a single encounter. Make sure that you have plenty of ammo and healing items for a sustained firefight. You'll also want to ensure that you have enough inventory space to grab up all of their guns to sell.
When you're ready to go, make your way over to the Plant. Walk inside and you'll see Varan sitting on a throne with guards beside him. Don't talk to him just yet — you have a choice to make.
Making a Choice with Varan
There are a total of three options for getting the information you need from Varan. I'll save you a lot of time — regardless of which option you take, you're going to end up fighting Varan and all of his men. The fastest way to handle this mission is to shoot Varan in the face and eliminate all of his men.
These are your options:
- Pay Varan 20,000 Coupons for the information
- Eliminate the Shah and Roosevelt on Varan's behalf
- Kill Varan and his men
If you pay Varan 20,000 Coupons or you eliminate the Shah and Roosevelt, Varan will let you go into the basement and then ambush you on your way back out. Combat with him is unavoidable, so you may as well fight him right away (and preferably, from a safe distance).
For the sake of completeness, though, I'll go over the other possibilities.
Option 1: Pay Varan 20,000 Coupons
The first choice is to pay Varan 20,000 Coupons if you have it. He'll take your Coupons and send you down to the basement where you'll find a dead man with the information you need on him.
As soon as you exit that room, Varan and two of his men will be staring down at you from a hole in the ceiling; he'll mock you and then he and his men will try to kill you. You'll have to shoot your way out of the building.
Should You Pay Varan 20,000 Coupons?
No, you should not pay Varan 20,000 Coupons. He'll betray you after you go into the basement and you'll lose 20,000 Coupons.
Option 2: Eliminate the Shah and Roosevelt
Your second option is to travel to two distinct locations to eliminate crimelords known as "Shah" and "Roosevelt." Each of these men occupies a different building and has around a dozen men guarding them.
There is a side objective to talk to Colonel Borodulin to get some information about one of the target locations. If you take this option, you'll have to assist the Colonel in fighting some mutants. If the Colonel gets killed, you will fail the objective and not get any information.
Should you succeed in killing the mutants and the Colonel survives, he will then want to play the world's deadliest game of hide and seek with you — he wants to hunt you for a total of one minute. Survive, and he'll tell you that you can get into an upper floor of the building using some pipes.
Both buildings have alternate ways in, but you can also just fight your way in through the front door. There are no particularly tough enemies here — they're standard bandits with the usual jank guns.
Once you have eliminated both the Shah and Roosevelt, return to Varan. The scenario will play out the same way as if you had paid him 20,000 Coupons — you'll go down to the basement, get what you need, and get ambushed by Varan on your way back out of the basement room. You'll have to shoot your way out of the building.
Should You Talk to Col. Borodulin?
No, you should not waste your time talking to Col. Borodulin. The information he gives you isn't very useful and you'll waste a lot of ammo killing mutants for no loot. He isn't carrying much in the way of valuables on himself, either, so you won't get much if he dies.
Option 3: Kill Varan and his Men
The third (and best) option is to simply shoot Varan and his men. You'll be able to get the information you need by taking the PDA from Varan's body. You'll have to take on Varan himself and around a dozen bandits. Considering what happens in the other scenarios, this is clearly the best option for taking on Varan and getting the information you need.
I recommend trying to get onto the high ground of this warehouse and shooting from there. While you can still take gunfire, it will make the possibility of getting hit with grenades much lower.
