You'll find yourself fighting and gathering often in Smalland, collecting a whole lot of materials in the process. However, unlike armor sets, which are unlocked via talking to NPCs, weapons and tools can be made without the assistance of other characters. In our Smalland Weapons and Tools Guide, we'll go over how these items work and some of the basics of combat.

How to Craft Weapons and Tools in Smalland
As mentioned earlier, you'll be crafting weapons and tools directly, rather than having to find a specific NPC. To start with, you'll only have access to the Wood Hatchet, Club, Torch, and the Builder's Hammer. More weapons and tools can be made once you start building, beginning with a Workbench. Different buildings allow for different tiers of tools to be made, including a few unique weapons not available elsewhere:
- Workbench - Wood and Chitin weapons and tools (some can be made by hand)
- Stonecutter - Stone and Flint weapons and tools
- Forge - Iron Tools
How to Repair Weapons in Smalland
Despite multiple buildings being used to craft different tiers of weapons and tools, only the Workbench can be used to repair them. After interacting with a workbench, select the Repair option at the top. The amount of materials needed to repair a weapon or tool depends on how low its durability is — at above 80% durability, the repair cost is free.
Smalland Weapon Damage Types, Explained
Both the enemies you fight and the armor you wear have resistances to the different damage types. When fighting enemies, you can see which damage types to use when looking at their health bar at the top of the screen. Weaknesses are represented to the left of their name by an orange icon with a downward arrow, with resistances to the right with a gray icon. Currently, there are 5 different damage types that can be used by you and animals:
- Blunt - Represented by a hammer icon.
- Edged - Represented by a sword icon.
- Piercing - Represented by a spear icon.
- Poison - Represented by a bottle icon featuring a skull
- Fire - Represented by, you guessed it, fire
Most melee weapons (outside of a rare exception or two) can only have one damage type, shown in the weapon's stats. However, ranged weapons like bows and the Blowgun are different. The weapon itself has a set damage type, with the projectiles you use adding extra damage on top. This means that you can use Fire Arrows to deal fire damage on top of the piercing damage offered by bows.
What is the Best Smalland Weapon?
Due to how resistances work, there current is no singular "best" weapon. However, you can make weapons of each damage type with Iron via the Forge. Iron weapons cover all non-elemental damage types, with the Morningstar even able to deal both blunt and piercing damage at the same time.
