So you've finally managed to beat Sifu and got an ending that was a bit of a downer. Considering the game is built around a revenge plot, this was somewhat expected. However, believe it or not, there is an alternate ending to Sifu, one that is harder to get. Here is our guide on how to unlock the Sifu alternate ending, and unlock the Legendary Talismans of Wuxing achievement.

Sifu Alternative Ending | Beat the Game First

First, the obvious. You need to actually get to the end of Sifu and defeat Yang. Once you do this, you will get a few additional clues on your detective board as well as a cryptic clue about how to get the alternate ending. Even the game's trophy list is vague with this, stating that you will need “to achieve Wude.”

But more importantly, your age will be reset to 20 and you'll be taken back to the hub world. This is important because the next step is a doozy.

Sifu Alternative Ending | Spare The Bosses

Yep. There is actually a way to non-lethally defeat all five bosses in Sifu. If you checked out our Secret Paths guide, you might even discover that all five bosses have a bit more going on under the surface that might even make them sympathetic.

Since the game itself doesn't exactly spell out how this is possible, here is how you can spare each boss:

  • First, get the boss into their second phase.
  • Next, completely break their Structure once, but don't finish them.
  • Finally, break their Structure a second time and get close to them. You should see a dialogue prompt pop up that lets you spare them. Do this and an alternate cutscene will play out where your hero doesn't kill the boss.

On paper, this is a straightforward twist on each battle. However, in practice, it's essentially Hard mode. This is because if you drop their health bar to zero in the second phase of these fights, the lethal ending will play out. What this means is you will have to perfectly parry or dodge most of what each boss throws at you, rather than just going for the same high damage combos over and over again.

Sadly, doing this still doesn't enable Focus attacks against Yang.

The good news is it appears that once you spare any of these bosses, they will stay spared until the final fight. This is even visualized in the stretch of hallway before you reach Yang's boss room with talismans and symbols appearing on the walls. What this means is if you need to grind out a few remaining skills or check for alternate paths, you can do so without worrying about whether or not spared bosses still count.

Once you have chosen to spare Yang in the final battle, the alternate ending will play out. Congratulations, you have gotten Sifu's more spiritually fulfilling (and much harder) ending, and unlocked the "Legendary Talismans of Wuxing" achievement, as well as "Muk Yan Master", "Tiger on Fire", "Source of Flying Daggers", and "Iron Money" for each boss.

Of course, this is a lot easier said than done given Sifu's high difficulty bosses, Yang in particular, coupled with these very specific rules. But if you need a few tips and primers in that regard, we have some guides for you there.
