Shin Megami Tensei V is out and if you bought the Digital Deluxe edition or have been eyeing the DLC packs a certain quest might have caught your attention. The DLC pack contains the optional quest Return of the True Demon. As the name suggests this questline will have you fighting demons familiar to those of you who have already played Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne. In this Shin Megami Tensei V Return of the True Demon Quest Guide we'll go through each of the demons you need to face, where to find them, and give some pointers on how to take care of them. After reaching the World of Shadows for the first time after returning you'll get the Menorah of Knowledge, and important item from SMT III. The Red Rider will try to maintain his reinforcements. These soldiers will try to attack the party with Physical and Light attacks. They're weak to Force and Dark but make sure you don't do any attacks that hit all enemies because Red Rider is strong to those. This battle is about selectively attacking.

For defeating Red Rider you'll earn the Menorah of Insight, you'll also be able to summon him

Mother Harlot lv 64

Resists Fire, Light, and Dark
Reflects Physical
Absorbs Electricity
Uses Almighty, Electric, and Fire attacks

Already reflecting Physical makes this battle tough. Make sure you're got a team that can work within the very strict confines of this fight. If you can't quite find the right assortment of skills remember there's always Force Gems that you can pick up from the shop. Even if they don't do as much damage their ability to Crit and prolong your turn is incredibly important.

For defeating Mother Harlot you'll earn the Menorah of Beauty, you'll also be able to summon him

Demon Fight #9 - Trumpeter

Location: Da'at: Taito

Shin Megami Tensei V Return of the True Demon - Trumpeter

Boss Information

Trumpeter Lv. 73

Weak to nothing
Resists Fire, Ice, Electricity, and Force
Immune to Light and Dark
Uses every type of elemental attack including Allmight

If the last battle was about being very specific in your magic selection the Trumpeter is all about getting out the heavy physical hits. Getting Crits to prolong your turn will be extra hard this battle, I recommend pre-charging your Magatsuhi meter and coming in with an Omagatoki: Critical to really lay out some heavy damage. All of his attacks hit all of your party at once, while this is a major nuisance as long as you have the immunity of every damage type across your party you'll be able to always force him to be blocked and only attack once.

For defeating Trumpeter you'll earn the Menorah of Glory, you'll also be able to summon him

Demon Fight #10 - Demi-Fiend

Location: Hall of Chaos
Unlock Requirement: Return to the World of Shadows after defeating the Trumpeter and a Leyline to the Hall of Chaos will be opened.

Shin Megami Tensei V Return of the True Demon - Demi-Fiend

Boss Information

Demi-Fiend Lv. 99

Weak to nothing
Resists Physical, Fire, Ice, Electricity, Force, Light, and Dark
Uses Physical attacks mostly but also has an almighty attack and the ability to heal his whole party.

To start the battle Demi-Fiend will summon his own team of allies. These are a Pixie Lv 90, Girimekhala Lv. 90, and a Cu Chulainn Lv. 90. Demi-Fiend tried to incapacitate as much of your team as possible by inflicting status effects that will lock away all abilities other than strike. It's very important to have a healer in your party that can not only keep feeding everyone health but also can cure these status ailments. It's also very recommended to purchase a Withered Goat that gives the Protagonist full health after the first time he might die. A team that is primarily resistant, or immune to physical damage is highly recommended. The battles you've been facing up until this point are child's play compared to this fight, expect to die a few times as you continue to refine your strategy.

For defeating Demi-Fiend you'll earn the Demi-Fiend Essence and complete the Return of the True Demon King quest
