This Sengoku Dynasty Perks Guide tells you how to level up the four different kinds of XP and what you can unlock in the Legend Skill Trees.
Once you've grasped the basics of Sengoku Dynasty, you'll probably want to get to work on your village and start leveling up your character. Leveling is a little unusual in this game; there are four types of experience, and each type of XP levels up a separate perk tree. Read on to learn how to earn XP and how to unlock these powerful perks!
How Sengoku Dynasty Perks Work
Sengoku Dynasty perks are special permanent abilities that you can unlock by progressing one of four distinct experience bars. These perks are generally related to their specific discipline, though not always
The four types of experience are:
- Dynasty XP: Used to unlock Sengoku Dynasty perks in the "Way of the Leader" perk tree. These perks are related to buffing your villages as a whole or unlocking special buildings.
- Craftsman XP: Used to unlock perks in the "Way of the Craftsman" perk tree. These perks buff your character's abilities in chopping wood, mining, farming, and building. You can also get some small stat boosts.
- Warrior XP: Used to unlock perks in the "Way of the Warrior" perk tree. These perks directly affect your combat and hunting abilities.
- Monk XP: Used to unlock perks in the "Way of the Monk" perk tree. These perks can increase your gain of the other three XP types, improve your stats, or reduce penalties in certain scenarios.
As you might expect, you gain 1 Perk Point when you each a new level on one of these four XP bars. You can then spend it on a valid perk in that particular tree. The four perk trees can be viewed by going to the "Legend" tab in the main menu.
Perks must be unlocked in a specific order. Take a look at the Way of the Craftsman perk tree:
The green diamonds indicate that you have Perk Points to spend and these particular perks can be unlocked. The locks at the bottom of each column show how many Perk Points must be spent before the perks in that column are unlocked.
Furthermore, many (although not all) perks have prerequisite requirements. For example, the "Seasoned Lumberjack" perk in the second column of the Way of the Craftsman perk tree can't be unlocked until you've spent at least one point in its prerequisite perk "Skillful Lumberjack."
Perk improvements to specific areas (such as cutting down trees) often have different levels. For example, there are four perks dedicated to improving your ability to cut down trees, and each perk gives you different bonuses. Make sure you read a perk's description carefully before you invest in it!
How to Earn Dynasty XP and Level up Way of the Leader Perks in Sengoku Dynasty
- Building "Special Projects," each of which takes at least 1 season to complete
- Liberating entire regions by completing all of their objectives on the map
- Reaching new population milestones for the first time
- Crafting/building items for the first time; each item or building typically tells you how much Dynasty XP you'll earn the first time you make it
Simply put, you earn Dynasty XP for Way of the Leader perks by leveling up your village and completing quests. Increasing your Dynasty Level also unlocks new buildings for your village.
The Way of the Leader perk tree also allows you to unlock several unique buildings; these can only be unlocked by investing your Perk Points into specific perks in this tree:
- Traveler Outposts: This perk allows you to build Traveler Outposts which are fast travel points that can be placed nearly anywhere in the world. You cannot place them within other towns or other no-build areas. Each Traveler Outpost also has its own unique local storage; these storages are not linked.
- Zen Gardens: This perk allows you to build decorative Zen Gardens within your village.
- Barter Deals: This perk allows you to build Trading Posts for general goods, food, fishing goods, and farming goods. Having these structures built appears to give you a chance for merchants of these types to show up in your town in the following season.
- Trade Brokers: This perk allows you to build a Tailor Goods Trading Post and a Blacksmith Goods Trading Post.
How to Earn Craftsman XP and Level Up Way of the Craftsman Perks in Sengoku Dynasty
- Crafting items
- Finishing buildings
- Dropping off resources at buildings in progress
- Completing certain quests
Craftsman XP is earned by making things, whether those things are tools for your villagers or massive buildings that they'll occupy. You're likely to earn a fair amount of Craftsman XP fairly quickly in the early game as you'll be focused on building and managing your village.
How to Earn Warrior XP Level Up Way of the Warrior Perks in Sengoku Dynasty
- Dealing damage to enemies
- Killing enemies
- Completing certain quests
Warrior XP is earned simply by fighting things, whether it's a bandit on the road or a vicious boar attacking you in the forest. This mainly buffs your combat ability.
There are a few Way of the Warrior perks that grant you new abilities:
- Sprint Attacker: You gain a sprint attack for your primary attack.
- Advanced Dash: A longer-distance dash
- Master Skinner: Get more items when skinning animals
- Powerful Charge: Unlocks a sprint attack for a secondary attack
- Perfect Parry: Unlocks the ability to perform a "perfect parry" that can damage the enemy's Poise and allow you to more easily counterattack
How to Earn Monk XP Level Up Way of the Monk Perks in Sengoku Dynasty
- Opening new shrines
- Making offerings at shrines
- Completing certain quests
Monk XP is probably the most difficult XP to earn. Each shrine only takes one specific item as an offering, and many of these items are either expensive or only available seasonally. Building shrines in your village is equally expensive, and you can't make offerings to the smallest ones that you can build.
That said, the Way of the Monk perk tree is easily one of the most powerful. You can increase your health and stamina and reduce your hunger. This tree also allows you to level up the other perk trees faster if you invest in them properly. Try to plan out a way to make regular visits to shrines and you'll reap massive rewards!
