Pokemon Scarlet And Violet Chi-Yu Black Stake Guide

In the Paldea Region there is plenty to look forward to exploring. From the tops of mountains to the bottom of caves you can search every nook and cranny for Pokemon, items, and more. One thing that you might be surprised to come across are glowing Black Stakes holding back the Legendary Pokemon of this region. In this Pokemon Chi-Yu Black Stake Guide, we'll show you the locations of all Black Stakes to unlock Chi-Yu.

What are the Black Stakes in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

There are four sets of different colored Black Stakes, each corresponding to a different sealed Shrine hidden in Paldea. The Shrine that is located in the North-East of the map is the Firescourge Shrine and it contains the legendary Pokemon Chi-Yu.

After removing the eight blue Black Stakes you'll be able to battle Chi-Yu. This is a level 60 encounter so be sure you're prepared but don't worry as whether you knock out Chi-Yu or Chi-Yu defeats your team you can return to rebattle it after an hour.

Chi-Yu Black Stake #1

Required Abilities: Climb

Closest Warp Location: Levincia (North)

How to Reach:From the Pokemon Center head west towards the Lighthouse. Then climb up the large hill to the North to find this Black Stake.

Chi-Yu Black Stake #2

Required Abilities: Climb

Closest Warp Location: East Province (Area Three)

How to Reach: From the East Province POkemon Center head into the woods to your West and then travel North until you cross a bridge. Climb up the hill behind the pond to find this Black Stake.

Chi-Yu Black Stake #3

Required Abilities: Swim

Closest Warp Location: North Province (Area Two)

How to Reach: This Black Stake is a bit of a distance from the teleport point. It is at the south East most point of the North Province (Area Two) region. It is inside a set of ruins.

Chi-Yu Black Stake #4

Required Abilities: Climb

Closest Warp Location: North Province (Area One)

How to Reach: Head North down the hill. In front of you will be a large mountain with a plateau at the very top. The Black Stake is up here.

Chi-Yu Black Stake #5

Required Abilities: Climb

Closest Warp Location: North Province (Area Two)/Fury Falls

How to Reach: Climb up the Waterfall all the way to the very top. Go over the top of the waterfall and you can find this Black Stake.

Chi-Yu Black Stake #6

Required Abilities: Swim, Climb

Closest Warp Location: Zapapico (West)

How to Reach: North of Zapapico, or South of Glaseado you'll see a small spot of green on the mountainside between where the snowy mountain stops, and where the grass begins again.

Chi-Yu Black Stake #7

Required Abilities: Climb

Closest Warp Location: North Province (Area Two)

How to Reach: From the Pokemon Center climb up the hill to the direct right. It will be underneath the tree on the hill.

Chi-Yu Black Stake #8

Required Abilities: Climb

Closest Warp Location: Montenevera

How to Reach: Head to the secluded beach in the far North East North of the Map. It's next to a rock on the hill.

Firescourge Shrine Location

Required Abilities: Climb

Closest Warp Location: Fury Falls

How to Reach: Climb all the way to the top of Fury falls, there's a passageway that goes deeper into the top of the falls. This is where the Blue Gateway is.

Chi-Yu Legendary Pokemon Battle

Name: Chi-Yu
Level: 60
Type: Dark/Fire
Ability: Beads of Ruin - The power of the Pokemon's ruinous beads lowers the Sp. Def stats of all Pokemon except itself.
Moves: Lava Plume, Ruination, Bounce, Swagger

Looks might be deceiving for this little goldfish as it's a Dark Fire type. You'll want to plan a strategy around avoiding its fire and flying moves but this is really one of the more straightforward battles and strategies. Lava Plume is a Special Attack so you'll need to worry about your Special Defence for that, but with Bounce being physical, and Ruination doing a set amount to half your health a strong water pokemon (with no weakness to flying) is going to be your best bet.
