If you fall asleep you will become more rested, but if you stay awake you will gain further stat points. There's a chance that staying awake could lead you to be tired, and if you do find your character tired you can go to the Faculty Office Hallway on the first floor of the school and visit the school nurse who will give you a mystery pill to take that will cure your tiredness, boost your courage, and also will not take up a portion of your day.
