You'll spend a lot of time at the New Pokemon Snap Research Camp. Normally you'll be here for showing Professor Mirror your pokemon pictures, or looking through your albums but after you complete the Illumina Spot at the Volcano you'll have a chance of taking photos here too. The path you take is just a very small loop, but there's plenty of pokemon that you can take photos of.

The more you play each level, and get interesting and exclusive photos the more you'll be able to increase your Research Level. When you get to a new Research Level new interactions will begin happening on routes and new pokemon will appear. For example, the first time you travel through the New Pokemon Snap Florio Nature Park during the day you won't see a Tangrowth, but on subsequent visits, he may appear. If you're searching for a Pokemon on the list below and it hasn't appeared for you where it shows in the map then you might just need to return at a later point in the game. For each of the 3/4-Star photos, I'll list which Research Level (RL) I encountered them on, but they are likely possible elsewhere too.

This guide will also list the various 3/4-Star opportunities that we've managed to come across in our own Pokemon journeys, it will be updated as we discover more.

Eevee

When you get in front of Eevee and Trubbish on the table you'll be able to get really great close up shots of them both. Hit Trubish in the face with a flufffruit and while he's stunned the Eevee will turn around and shoot your an angry look. Take a photo of Eevee then.

Trubbish

After being hit by a flufffruit on the table Trubbish will let out a poison gas attack.

Bunnelby

Keep an eye on the Bunnelby that's hiding in the holes. At a certain time he'll poke his head out, take a photo when you can see his face for a 3-star shot.

4-Star Opportunities

Cutiefly

After riding past the Sudowoodo you'll get to an extremely small Cutiefly. Play music for it and it will begin dancing and holding it's face in its hands.

Meowth

After feeding Meowth a lot, also potentially after letting it chase Rattata, it will happily roll on its back on the ground.

New Pokemon Snap Research Camp Route 2

  • Audino
  • Starly
  • Rattata
  • Sudowoodo

When the route circles around to the Audino that's near the flowers start playing music for it. It should move side on and start dancing wagging its tail.

Dedenne

Find the dedenne that's sleeping on top of the NEO-ONE and knock it off with a flufffruit.

Sudowoodo

Throw a flufffruit into the water trough near Sudowoodo. He will freak out to be near water and begin to run away so take a photo of him quickly!

Rattata

When you get to the Ratatta and Trubbish near the fire pit throw an Illumino Orb into the fire itself and it will flare up. The Rattata will be scared for a moment, get a good photo when you can.

Bunnelby

Hit the Bunnelby at the end of the course with an Illumino ball. Instead of doing a normal hop it will hop and spin.

New Pokemon Snap Research Camp Alternate Route

After completing multiple runs of the Research Camp Second Starting Point replay the first starting point. When you're near the front steps of the Lab you'll be prompted to scan to find an alternate route. This will take you through the Lab itself.
