My Time at Sandrock Workshop Guide
Your Workshop is your house, as well as your workspace. You'll get to name it at the start of the game, and you'll have a small area to start with. Over time, you'll want to research new machines to expand your production capabilities to craft new items for commissions as well as gifts for the villagers.
How do machines work in My Time At Sandrock?
Each My Time at Sandrock machine is a little different, but most of them have some things in common:
- They need Water in your Water Tank to be able to operate.
- They need to be fueled, either in their individual tank or collectively with a Fire Powered Generator that is unlocked later on.
- They need time to produce items, you can see how much time is left above them.
Many of the machines on this list have upgraded versions, but having something is better than nothing (especially when you're getting started out).
What Machines Should You Unlock First in My Time at Sandrock?
The first My Time at Sandrock machines you should unlock should be either the Grinder or the Processor; each of these only costs 1 Data Disc and will unlock several new items for you to craft.
After that, your next step should be a Dew Collector. This will make it easy to get Water and will help keep your machines running.
Beyond that, you should focus on what you need the most for the task at hand. Remember, you can spend additional Data Discs to speed things up if you need to.
Use Multiple Machines
Once you're set up, you shouldn't have just one of each machine. My mid-game setup has four (or more) of every machine. More machines reduces the chances of having to wait longer for crafting (and therefore, fulfilling Commissions).
Always be Crafting Components
You'll use a lot of Sticks, Pipes, Plates and More. As you build up your workshop, make sure you're keeping 12 (or more) of these in stock for commissions and missions! Have them ready so you don't have to wait, and replenish them when you use them!
Remove Sand to Speed Up Production
As time goes by, sand will slowly build up and cover your workbenches -- this will slow down their production speed. You can fix this by using a Feather Duster on them; you can get the Feather Duster blueprint at the Commerce Guild, and craft it at your workbench.
Growing Your Sandrock Workshop Ranking
The monthly and yearly Workshop Ranking bonuses can be a big chunk of income, as well as critical items you'll need to create more high-level items. There are a few components to your My Time At Sandrock Workshop Ranking:
- Monthly Rank
- Yearly Rank
- Workshop Tier (1,2,3,4+)
Critically, they can also unlock unique recipes. such as Chromium Steel Bars at Workshop Tier 3. You want to make sure you're working towards being in the top 3 (if not in the number 1 spot), and a key factor in doing that is making the most of your machines, and completing commissions.
My Time At Sandrock Commissions Guide
You can only have one standard commission active at a time, and you can only pick up one new commission per day. However, event and mission commissions are counted separately, so you can have multiple active commissions if you diversify when available!
There are multiple tiers of commission, so make sure that you're picking ones that maximize your reputation and money earning!
- Top Right: The "Tier" - this commission is Tier 3
- Rewards (Left to Right): Relationship Points with the NPC, Gols you'll earn, Experience you'll earn, and Workshop Reputation
It's worth noting, there's a few skills that you can pick up as you level, that will give you a bonus on contracts based on speed and quality! Some commissions will require higher-quality items (Blue or Purple) which you can check in your mission log.
How to Improve Your Sandrock Workshop Ranking
There's a few ways to ensure that you rank #1 on the Workshop Rankings. Year 1, Yan will likely win, as you won't yet have access to Tier 3+ Commissions to get the maximum workshop reputation gains. After that, if you're doing a commission every day, you should have no issue grabbing the top slot. Here's what we recommend to maximize your Workshop Ranking:
- Do a commission every day, no matter what.
- Pick up the mission(s) with the highest Workshop Points.
- Put out an ad in the newspaper (on the board next to town hall) for 100 Gols per week. This will grant exp, money, and point bonuses on ALL commissions you complete during this time!
- Saturdays & Sundays - Do the inspections! It's an easy 80 points per weekend!
Reaching 1st place is tough, but worth it - you'll get a nice chunk of Gols as well as DIamonds that can be used for high-level crafting, as well as gifts that many villagers love!
