Our Monster Hunter Wilds Research Report Questline guide will go over where to find each of the Endemic Life you're asked to find by the two researchers.
Where to Find Endemic Life
Tracktail Lizard
Tracktail Lizards are generally found in the desert section of the Windward Plains. This means you'll have a good chance of finding them in Area 11 and 13 — we found a group shortly after entering the desert after Area 12.
Dapperwing
Dapperwing can be found in all climates, but they're most obvious during Plenty. They hand around on the ruined structures in the Scarlet Forest, such as the one in Area 12,
Ember Rufflizard
Ember Rufflizards hang around in the upper areas of the Oilwell Basin, such as Area 3. They glow bright green and often come in packs.
Rime Beetle
Rime Beetles are all over the Iceshard Cliffs. You can even filter the map icons to only show Rime Beetles (press A/D or left/right on the d-pad while viewing the map and select Filter Icons.)
Gillopod
Gillopod are an incredibly rare Endemic Life found on the walls in the Ruins of Wyveria. We found one on the wall along Area 8, though this took a while. In High Rank, you can rest at any camp and reset the area if you don't find a Gillopod the first time.
Sandstar
Your final task for this questline in Monster Hunter Wilds is to catch a Sandstar. This is also needed for the achievement/trophy "I Caught a Shooting Star!"
This elusive creature can be found in Area 13 at night, east of the oasis. We'd recommend setting a pop-up camp nearby, as this Endemic Life does not spawn very frequently. In addition, we'd recommend using the slinger on the Baunos flying around in the desert to grab some Screamer Pods.
Head east from the oasis at night and you might spot a Sandstar — it's a glowing blue creature. At a distance, equip the Ghillie Mantle and get closer. Before it can run, fire off a Screamer Pod to stun it, then switch to the net to catch the Sandstar before it recovers.
