Maps in Monster Hunter Wilds are expansive, and you'll need to explore them thoroughly before you can setup more camps to rest and resupply at. Our guide will show full maps for each area, along with places you can add new pop-up camps.

Pop-up Camps

Pop-up camps are your way of setting up new fast travel points in each map. They include every function that the tent in the base camp has, though there are a few things to keep in mind.

Finding Area 10 camp location which is surrounded by fireflies.

For one, you're only able to set pop-up camps in specific points. These are marked by green fireflies, and the game will also try and direction your attention towards the areas once you're close.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, camps other than your base can be destroyed by wandering monsters. Destroyed camps repair after time passes or if you spend Guild Points. Talking to the pop-up camp manager in the Windward Plains or the helper NPCs in the other area will let you view a list of all camp locations you've discovered or repair camps remotely. This includes a note on how dangerous an area is:

  • Safe: Will never be destroyed. Used for camps in areas monsters can never reach.
  • Insecure: Areas that are somewhat out of the way of monsters, but will likely be destroyed every now and then.
  • Dangerous: Will nearly always be destroyed. Usually placed next to key monster spawns or main passthrough areas (such as the tutorial one in Scarlet Forest.)

Destroyed camps cannot be fast travelled to, and still count towards the pop-up camp limit in the area.

Changing Time

Once you leave Low Rank, areas go through a cycle of Plenty, Follow, Inclemency. This changes the appearance of areas, and also determines the appearance of certain fish and Endemic Life.

In a camp, selection the option to change the current environment.

If you view the environment overview while looking at the map, it will show the current time and environment status. If you want to change this (while also resetting the status of everything in the area) you can visit any camp and choose rest under the BBQ Menu tab.

In general, Plenty is the best time for finding Endemic Life and Fish, while Inclemency lets you fight Apex monsters.

Investigations

When exploring any map in Monster Hunter Wilds, you can take on roaming large monsters for extra materials. In High Rank, you can save these monsters as investigations, letting you fight them up to three more times by talking to Alma.

Creating a quest this way will let you obtain the bonus rewards multiple times — if you're after gold crowns, the monster will also stay the same size. This is a great way to farm rare materials like gems, or Artian weapon components.

An investigation including an Alpha Doshugama and Quematrice.

During post-game, you'll sometimes also have the option to create quests containing multiple monsters. These offer far more bonus rewards, and are the easiest way to farm materials.

Below are maps containing each section of the areas in Monster Hunter Wilds. Marked on the maps are locations of where you can place pop-up camps. Note that there's a limit to how many camps can be placed at a time, which increases once you complete the High Rank story.
