Treasure Hunting

Treasure Hunter in Luma Island is a 1-star profession, involving gathering pirate-themed materials and turning them into items. It's a mostly self contained profession, though you'll end up with a few materials for Archaelogist along the way.

Starting the Treasure Hunter profession comes with its own benefit right from the start — you get a free pet! Equipping this pet is key to finding buried treasure, though all pets and Lumas function identically if you'd rather use something else.

As you walk around, your pet will occasionally run off to certain random spots. Going over to them will give the "Dig" option, which bringing up a treasure chest full of goodies for that area. Chests found this way go black, blue, purple in order of least to most rewards.

You can also come across random piles of loot, represented by small shiny mounds of dirt with an item sticking out. These will drop some Treasure Hunter materials as well.

Fishing by the farm beach, with the option to reel in my catch.

However, all Treasure Hunter items also require different types of "Essence". These are obtained by fishing, though its a lot simpler than catching fish.

To start, you'll need to mine up some ore and craft it into bars. Then at the Ore Smelter, you can turn them into Magnets — each area uses a different magnet type for catching treasure.

Then, simply equip the fishing rod and select the required magnet as bait. If you head over to most bodies of water, you can see bubbles rising up. This indicates that there's treasure, so cast your line out, then reel it in for your reward.

The Treasure must be cleaned at the Treasure Hunter's Sink — the crafting recipe for this unlocks when you start the profession quests. Cleaning Treasure uses Fabric, which is crafted using Cotton (obtained from the plants with a round white flower in all areas) at a Simple Workbench.
