Our Luma Island Luma Guide will go over what these mysterious creatures do, and where you can find each across the game's maps.
How Lumas Work
Luma in Luma Island are a collection of 15 different creatures, which you can only obtain by finding their eggs. The locations of Luma Eggs are set, but the actual egg type is randomised for each save file. This means we can't tell you where to find a specific Luma, though you'll eventually get them all.
On top of the 15 findable eggs, it's also possible to buy more of the ones you've already obtained via the Pet Shop. This building is in the north west part of Town, and can be fixed up for use from day 5. However, the eggs cost 250k Gold each so this is best left until the endgame.
Once you actually have an egg, you must buy the Luma Incubator crafting recipe from the Drawing Shop in Town. Then once built, you can convert Spirits (the small orbs that drop from most activities) into Luma Life. Each Luma requires 1 Luma Life, with the amount of Spirits needed to craft these increasing each time.
Hatching a Luma is similar to crafting items in other professions, and they're added to your inventory once completed. Luma can be equipped and act similarly to pets, meaning they're useful for Treasure Hunting.
You can also place them in Luma Nest, the recipes for these being bought from the Drawing Shop. This lets you have Luma out on the Farm, which is useful for obtaining Luma Energy.
Luma Energy
Luma Energy is the main roadblock when it comes to making items for the different professions. You can gain 1 Luma Energy for each Luma you pet per day, and 1 for feeding them.
Lumas eat Luma Food, which is crafted using a berry, flower, and mushroom — higher tiers of each will craft more Luma Food at a time. You can throw the food towards Luma (R key/RT), or buy the Trough recipe from the Drawing Shop and fill it with food.
You'll want to pet and feed Luma each day, as you'll always need Luma Energy for new crafting recipes. To speed things up a little, you can buy special Luma Food from the Mushroom Shops in each area. This can be fed to Luma without counting as their daily feed.
How to Get Luma Eggs
Luma are found in a few set locations. These are:
- Temples
- 1 Farm
- 3 Forest
- 3 Mountain
- 3 Jungle
- Reaching the top of the Volcano in the Jungle
- Behind a locked door in each area
The locked doors in each area require you to find "Offerings", collectables specific to those areas — the Farm and Town are counted as one area for this.
