Find Ancient Books Around Luma Island
When entering the town, you'll encounter a book stall to the left. Talking to Balthazar nearby, he'll tell you about 20 Ancient Books that are hidden on Luma Island. Handing these books into the stall will unlock new crafting recipes to help spice up the appearance of your farm.
Handing in all 20 books will unlock mega-structure decorative items (needed for the "That Took a LOT of Time!" achievement), along with the "Well Read" achievement. Speaking to Balthazar again completes the quest, netting you 1000 spirits of each type.
While there are always 20 books in set locations, the actual books are randomised (similar to the Luma eggs you can collect.) The locations of these are:
The Mines
Each main area of Luma Island contains a mine full of ores and gems. And at the outside edge of each, there's a secret exit that takes you to one of the books. You can actually see the books as you explore each area regularly, but the only way to reach them is via the mines.
Ruins
Another source of books is via the ruins. These are areas you'll explore as part of the storyline, and also give Luma Eggs.
Offering Doors
Another place that you'll also find Ancient Books and Luma Eggs are the offering doors. There's one locked door per area, with a number of offering crystals to find — check out our Luma guide to find out where these are located.
Exploration
This is how you'll find the last set of books. Most of these final ones are out in the open, but a couple are more hidden away.
