The Last Stand: Aftermath Crafting Guide - cover

Our The Last Stand: Aftermath Crafting Guide tells you what you need to know for making healing items, improvised weapons, and more -- including recipes and tips on how to use these items.

The Last Stand: Aftermath Crafting Guide - How Crafting Works

The Last Stand: Aftermath Crafting is much more straightforward than it is in most games. All you need to do is go to a Workbench, Campfire, or Fire Barrel and combine two specific items. You'll get a shiny new item after a short amount of time.

Crafting can only be done at Workbenches, Campfires, or Fire Barrels. All of these items can be randomly found in any level; Safehouses are guaranteed to have both a Workbench and a Campfire at the minimum.

Unfortunately, you won't have access to all of the Recipes we'll be listing here in The Last Stand: Aftermath Crafting Guide. You can certainly unlock some of them, but you'll have to spend Knowledge and Supply to get others.

How to Unlock New The Last Stand: Aftermath Crafting Recipes

There are three ways to unlock new The Last Stand: Aftermath Crafting Recipes:

  1. Combine two items together for the first time.
  2. Purchase a Knowledge Upgrade.
  3. Purchase at the Supply Depot (once your level is high enough)

The Last Stand Aftermath Crafting Guide - Best Items

The Best Items to Craft in The Last Stand: Aftermath

There are a lot of items listed in our The Last Stand: Aftermath Crafting Guide, but some are clearly better than others. Here's a shortlist of what's worth making if you can.

  • Bandages - Useful for healing. Rags don't have much use otherwise, and Clean Water is abundant; you'll be able to find plenty of Food to restore your Stamina otherwise.
  • Battery - Batteries are incredibly important items that can unlock Antiviral, Supply Caches, and H.E.R.C. Station Weapon Crates and Medical Crates. You should always Craft these when you can.
  • Bottle Suppressor / Improvised Suppressor - Carrying two of these Pistol/SMG suppressors is ideal for avoiding unwanted attention so you can use two Pistols at the same time.
  • Can Bomb - Explosives aren't good for much else and having more weapons is always good.
  • Herbal Antidote - The only item guaranteed to instantly stop Poison's detrimental effects. Always carry several of these when possible.
  • Medkit - Can be used to get back almost all of your Health, but it's better saved to sell to the Merchant -- each Medkit is worth 3 Knowledge Points.
  • War Pick - A reliable melee weapon that can be used throughout the game. Cheap, too, as long as you have a Pipe.

The Last Stand: Aftermath Crafting Guide - Fire

How to Craft at a Fire in The Last Stand: Aftermath

Crafting at a Fire in The Last Stand: Aftermath is as easy as interacting with any other object in the game; simply walk up to a Campfire or Fire Barrel and get to work. Keep in mind that you are vulnerable to attack while Crafting -- make sure to clear the surrounding area of zombies first!

Fire Crafting has five exclusive recipes that can not be Crafted at a Workbench:

  1. Clean Water
  2. Herbal Antidote
  3. Herbal Endurance
  4. Herbal Remedy
  5. Propane Gas

The Last Stand: Aftermath Crafting Guide - Workbench

How to Craft at a Workbench in The Last Stand: Aftermath

Crafting at a Workbench works just like it does at a Fire, although there are some key differences to note. Workbenches appear to be much rarer in my experience -- make sure to always use them whenever the opportunity presents itself.

One downside to crafting at Workbenches is that there are five unique recipes that can only be Crafted at Campfires and Fire Barrels. On the upside, there are nearly twice as many recipes available at a Workbench -- including some pretty decent weapons.

Don't forget: as with Fires, you're vulnerable to attacks while Crafting. Make sure to kill any nearby zombies before you begin!
