Strange Little Verse is a series of riddles that take you around Kuttenberg in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. Obtained from a smuggler's cache during the side quest Schindel's Toys, each new verse brings you closer to treasure. Not every answer is easy to come by, however. This is how to solve each Strange Little Verse riddle without wandering aimlessly around Kuttenberg.

How to Solve Strange Little Verse Riddles
While each of the five riddles in the Strange Little Verse series is different, there are common themes used when it comes to solving them. When reading the verse, pay close attention to the red text. This often points to the location or main imagery you're looking for in the city. Then, each clue points to paintings found on the buildings in Kuttenberg. There may be an area or sculpture with a similar name or theme, but you can ignore those as they won't help you find the next riddle.
How to the Solve Strange Little Verse I Riddle

A proper scholar is curious!
On Vintner's Street there stand
Two Marys tall and grand.
The first to the south is gazing,
The second to the east is facing.
But neither is aware
They are not on dry land there.
In one pipe take a peek
For the wet beads that you seek
This riddle ends up being unnecessarily complicated. While you can search for two Mary paintings facing the correct directions, you can simply skip that and look for a wet pipe. The only water coming from pipes in Kuttenberg is the fountain on the west side of the city.
When at the fountain, look for the pipe nearest to the washing trough. Inspect it to find the second verse stuffed inside.

How to Solve Strange Little Verse II
The second verse reads:
A Proper Scholar Guards His Sources of Inspiration
Here on the north wall top
Sir Knight Pail von Bucket
Guarded the growing hops.
Now a shaft is all he can look at.

Looking at the northern part of Kuttenberg, there's an area of the wall that overlooks farmland. Additionally, the clue points us towards the space between the inner and outer walls since the knight can only see through a shaft, typically found in outer walls for defense.

Located on the northwestern side of Kuttenberg you'll find a strawman with a bucket on his head, hence Sir Knight Pail von Bucket. Search the head of the Protector of Kuttenberg to find the third verse.
How to Solve Strange Little Verse III
This verse can be quite confusing to solve. At first I spent most of my time looking at the base of trees in the Garden of Eden. You want to remember, though, that the clues point towards paintings on building walls, which will help you find the solution to the riddle.

A Proper Scholar is Aware of Time.
Grinding by day and by night
In winter dark and summer bright.
With his golden need, Eden
scratches at the sixth, you'll see then
Where the knowledge tree rises from the ground.
There your virtues can be found.

While Eden is the focus of the clue, the full verse encompasses the theme of time. Look in the square near the Garden of Eden on the east side of Kuttenberg where there stands a clocktower. This square has a white etching of Adam and Eve standing next to a tree located on a pillar. Go to the back side of the column, a nod to scratching the sixth, to find a small hatch. Inside it is Strange Little Verse IV.

How to Solve Strange Little Verse IV
A Proper Scholar Honours the Imperial Majesty
The imperial crown,
Without a doubt
Cannot a bird's nest be.
For everyone will wonder,
What's this for majesty?
But when there's nowhere left to tryAnd birds much build their nests on high
Let it at least a kingfisher's be.
A sparrow's is not what we want to see.

Verse four is the longest of all the riddles, and can point you straight in the wrong direction if you've helped Bathhouse Owner Betty with her business. Named the Kingfisher, it can be the first place that comes to mind upon reading the clue. The baths, however, are located outside the main part of the city, which slopes downwards. This is the opposite of being built on high.
If you've wandered around town, though, you may have discovered a nest at one of the taverns. The Emperor Charles Tavern, one named after royalty, has the highest window compared to the other buildings, and some birds decided to roost there. If you have good aim, you can shoot the nest from outside. Otherwise, you'll have to head up the four flights of stairs and knock it down from the top level of the tavern.

Inspect the nest to find the last riddle in the series, Strange Little Verse V.
How to Solve Strange Little Verse V
Sticking with the religious iconography of the first and third verses, the fifth and final riddle revolves around St. George and his battle with a dragon.
A proper scholar knows his Saints!
St. George has struck with his deadly spear,
The dragon bleeds and writhes in fear.
But St. George is not done yet.
Beneath his helm he turns his head.
He fixes his gaze towards the eastWhere there spawns another beast.
This dragon though from rock is made.
In its throat a window will come to your aid.

Look for the painting of St. George on his horse standing above a dragon. This painting includes all the hints in the riddle, including facing to the east. Follow his gaze to the green colored building that acts as an archway to another area of the city.

Under the arch, there are two closed windows. Inspect the rightmost one to receive the reward. You'll obtain two Skill Books, Master's Studies IV, which boosts Scholarship and On the Composition of Alchemy IV, which increases Alchemy. There's no additional letter and no sign of anyone taking credit for the riddles.
And that's how to solve every riddle that's part of the Strange Little Verse collection! Make sure to check out more of our guides for Kingdom Come: Deliverance II below.
