The powerful Master Strike technique makes its return in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, but Henry must once again unlock it. Follow our guide to find out where you can learn it and why it’s absolutely worth doing so.
Unlocking Master Strike
After getting full access to the open world for the first time, you’ll be standing at the stocks in Troskowitz. Here, there’s a beggar named Bara who will call you over. You can ask her a few questions, and she’ll eventually talk about a show-off swordman that could potentially teach you a new trick.
This starts the side quest Combat Training I, which leads to the Nomads’ Camp west of Troskowitz. It’s not too far away, just a little further past Herbwoman Bozhena’s house. Heading over to the marker, you’ll find Master Tomcat.
Completing basic training with him will unlock the sidequest Combat Training II, which is where you'll actually learn Master Strike.
Master Strike Differences
Compared to the first game, Master Strike in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has seen a few changes. For starters, Master Strike now only applies to swords, though the other weapon types have their own advantages to compensate for this.
The way you trigger Master Strike is also different. Now, you simply attack in the opposite direction to the opponent once the green shield icon appears. This includes if an enemy attempts to counter a normal attack, meaning you can break a stalemate instead of trying a perfect block.
Unlike regular counters, there’s no way for an opponent to block Master Strikes. This means that your Sword stat is less important, though it will still increase the damage done by Master Strike at higher levels.
Some enemies are also able to Master Strike, so make sure not to attack an opponent on the opposite side of their guard until they attack first.
