How To Unlock The West Gate In Blue Prince

When you start Blue Prince your main focus will be on making your way through the mansion, but if you're exploring outside you might find a number of locked doors and gates. One of these is the West Gate that looks to lead to a bridge over water and a small building. We will show you how to unlock the West Gate.

Unlocking the West Gate

To unlock the West Gate you'll need to meet a few different criteria as you're making your way through the mansion. In any order you need to obtain the Utility Closet and the Garage.

Inside the Utility Closed there are a number of buttons and switches that you'll have access to, what we want to ensure is that the red switch for the Garage is to the left to make sure that the Garage power is on.

Inside the Garage, once the power is on, look for the box hanging on the wall next to the door that looks like a switch/intercom system. You'll know the room is correctly powered because it will have a green light on it.

After pressing the switch the Garage Door will open. This lets you out into a small driveway with a road leading South towards the front of the house. Walk down this pathway and you'll get to the other side of the West Gate where you can unlatch it.

After unlatching it you'll get a full screen notification that the West Gate has been unlocked and will be unlocked permanently going forward.

What do you get for opening the West Gate?

After opening the West Gate you're able to draft an outside room. These rooms don't just add mechanically to the game, but are also necessary for a variety of puzzles. These rooms include:

• Toolshed - Gives 2 special items
• Shelter - Protects you from the negative effects of the next three Red Rooms drafted
• Schoolhouse - Adds 8 classrooms to today's Draft Pool
• Shrine - Make an offering, Receive a blessing
• Root Cellar - Rooms in your house will be more likely to contain dig spots today
• Hovel - Special Floorplans now cost additional steps instead of gems
• Trading Post - Items for Trade
• Tomb - Each time you draft a Dead End in your house, spread 5 gold in the Tomb
