Tarasque | IS-0059 Reaper

The GATE Facility in Abiotic Factor is filled with all sorts of tough enemies such as the Leyak. The various Security Bots are a constant threat and a source of some valuable crafting materials, so you'll need to know the best way to kill them. Read on to learn how to fight these tanky robots!

Most Security Bots will stay in their charging pods until nighttime comes around or you activate them in another way.

How Security Bots Work in Abiotic Factor

Security Bots are automated defenses that are spread throughout the G.A.T.E. Facility. Most Sectors have some form of Security Bot and they will attack anything on sight, whether it's alien creatures, Order Soldiers, or you.

Generally speaking, Security Bots will remain in their Robot Charging Pods during the daytime and will only come out at night. However, there are exceptions to this rule. You can attack a Security Bot's charging pod at any time and it will eventually activate and begin patrolling as if it were nighttime.

Killing a Security Bot will get it to drop a CPU, a special crafting resource that you can only get from that particular Security Bot. They will also drop several cans of soda, and you can dismember their bodies with a sharp weapon to get additional tech resources such as Tech Scrap and Coils.

There are currently 3 different versions of Security Bot in Abiotic Factor as of the Crush Depth update. Each has its own unique features and vulnerabilities; we'll tell you everything you need to know about them in their respective sections of this guide.

Security Bots Eventually Respawn

Security Bots respawn roughly one day after you've destroyed them. If you intend on farming Security Bots for resources, it makes the most sense to attack several bots one after another to give the others time to respawn.

How to Get Security Bots to Ignore You

You can get Security Bots to totally ignore you by equipping the Night Pass Trinket which can be found in GATE Security Crates. If a Security Bot has targeted you (indicated by a red light) and you don't have the Night Pass equipped, you can equip the Night Pass to get the Security Bot to stand down.

However, a Night Pass isn't a free license to attack Security Bots; while they won't actively pursue you, attacking a Security Bot will cause it to consider you a hostile even with the Night Pass equipped. Unequipping and re-equipping the Night Pass will not de-aggro the Security Bot that you've attacked.

How to Kill the G.A.S.S. Security Bot in the Offices and Manufacturing West Sectors

Being Attacked by a Security Bot in Abiotic Factor
Security Bots can stun you with an electrified punch.

The standard G.A.S.S. Security Bot is the first version that you will encounter. Letting it get too close is a bad idea as it will stun you with an electrified punch and it can quickly kill you if you're backed into a corner.

Using a Makeshift Spear is your best option in the early game. You will probably need at least two of them, but you can poke the Security Bot from a safe distance with it as long as you have room to move away. However, this method is terribly slow.

Once you make it to the Cascade Laboratories Sector, you'll gain the ability to craft an Electro-Thrower. The Electro-Thrower is a tremendously effective weapon; approximately 25% of its battery is enough to kill a single G.A.S.S. Security Bot. The electricity basically stunlocks the Security Bot in place.

The Lighting Spear is also a good choice for killing the G.A.S.S. Security Bot. The electricity from this weapon will keep it stunlocked, allowing you to kill it from a safe distance with little danger.

G.A.S.S. Security Bot Loot

  • Security Bot CPU
  • Various Sodas
  • Coil
  • Glass Scrap
  • Metal Scrap
  • Tech Scrap

How to Kill the G.A.I.A. Containment Bot in the Containment Labs Sector

A Containment Bot Being Activated in Abiotic Factor
Containment Bots in the Cascade Laboratories Sector can be activated, even in the daytime, if you step in the area marked by purple and black lines.

The G.A.I.A. Containment Bot is much tougher than the original Security Bot. By now, you should have access to the Electro-Thrower and that is your best option for killing this Security Bot, hands-down. It will take approximately 50% of the battery to kill a single G.A.I.A. Containment Bot.

This Security Bot is more heavily armored and it moves faster. The Electro-Thrower and Lightning Spear will still stun it, but it recovers from the stun much more quickly so you must continually back away as you reduce its health.

If a G.A.I.A. Containment Bot grabs you, it can lock you in a containment cell in the Cascade Laboratories Sector. Getting locked in one of these cells is necessary for progressing deeper into the Sector.

G.A.I.A. Containment Bot Loot

  • Jailbroken CPU
  • Various Sodas
  • Kizz Cola
  • Coil
  • Glass Scrap
  • Metal Scrap
  • Tech Scrap

How to Kill the G.A.D.D. Defense Bot in the Hydroplant Sector

The Weak Point of the Defense Bot Highlighted in Abiotic Factor
Attacking the Defense Bot's Backpack can kill it much faster than a head-on attack. (Note: Image brightness and contrast was enhanced for illustrative purposes.)

The G.A.D.D. Defense Bot is a new version of the Security Bots in Abiotic Factor and it is substantially tougher. Aside from having stronger armor, it also has a grenade launcher that can do a lot of damage to you. Attack its backpack to cause its ammo reserve to overload and you'll kill it faster.

If you're near the G.A.D.D. Defense Bot, it will continually shoot a barrage of grenades at you that will burst into flames on the ground. If you try to stay far away, it will fire artillery shells that will explode instantly on impact. Electrical Weapons can damage it, but it takes a long time to kill it with this method.

Your best option for killing a G.A.D.D. Defense Bot is to get behind it and attack it ammo storage backpack. An alarm will sound once you've done enough damage and the Defense Bot will explode a few seconds later, allowing you to pick up its loot.

Fighting the Defense Bot in multiplayer is best done with at least two people; one can attack its vulnerable backpack while the other player dodges attacks. If you're playing solo, equipping the Gravity Cube Trinket will give you more mobility and increase your chances of getting behind this bot to attack its back.

Fortunately, the Defense Bot doesn't have infinite ammo; it will occasionally retreat after firing a few volleys of grenades at you. This is your best opportunity to attack its weak point on the back if you're by yourself.

G.A.D.D. Defense Bot Loot

  • Reinforced CPU
  • Coil
  • Coil Winding
  • Frag Grenade
  • Tech Scrap
  • Transformer Bushing
