How to Get the Wire Cutter in Conscript

This guide will tell you how to get each Cutter Half piece and make the Wire Cutter in Conscript, opening up a new area in Wire Storage in Chapter 2.

Conscript is set in World War I, and that means there's plenty of barbed wire everywhere. Unfortunately, some of that barbed wire is blocking your path. It's time to turn on your Torch, rack your shotgun, and start exploring to find the Wire Cutter pieces — read on to learn how to get what you need!

How to Get the Wire Cutter in Conscript

You can get the Wire Cutter in Conscript by getting two Cutter Half parts and combining them together. One Cutter Part is located in Support Trench West in the Support Trench and the second Cutter Part is located in the Mine Works in the Supply Trench. Here's how to get each of the two Cutter Halves!

How to Get the First Cutter Half

You can get the first Cutter Half pretty easily at the start of Chapter 2 — all you have to do is go to Support Trench West and investigate a particular building.

Here's where you need to go:

From the Mess Hall, head out the western door and run around Support Trench West in a counterclockwise direction. You may have to fight or avoid some enemies in this area, so be prepared for combat.

It will take some time before you can get Cutter Half #2, so put this first Cutter Half in your Stash for now.

How to Get the Second Cutter Half

Getting the second part of the Wire Cutter in Conscript is a little more challenging. You're going to need to unlock the Supply Trench, and that's going to require several steps.

Here's what you need to do:

1. Get the Dynamite in Explosives Storage.
2. Get the Torch (Flashlight) in the Support Trench.
3. Use the Torch to get the Pigeon Coop Key in the Support Trench and get Lighter Fluid (among other items).
4. Get the Lighter and open up the Ruined Blockhouse to get the Supply Trench Key.
5. Use the Supply Trench Key to open the Supply Trench. Make sure to bring the Dynamite with you.

Once you've accessed the Supply Trench, you'll have a few more steps to complete. Here's a map for the area with the next steps marked:

Walk south and you'll encounter two German soldiers standing next to a fire. You can kill them or sneak by, but make sure to pick up the Rifle nearby. From there, you'll have to make your way through these Trenches to get a few items you need.

6. Get the Detonator Handle in Headquarters

Your first step will be to make your way northwest and get the Detonator Handle in Headquarters. There is one German soldier in this room, but you can sneak up on him pretty easily. There's plenty of other good stuff in the room, so loot it thoroughly before leaving.

While you're in the area, you can also go and use the Working Artillery to gain access to some loot in the Support Trench later.

You can then head further west and save your game at the Workstation if needed. This is a good time to drop off any equipment that you might not need at your Stash, too. Remember to bring the Dynamite and Detonator Handle with you, along with a weapon or two to fight any Germans you encounter.

7. Place the Detonator Handle and Dynamite

Head East and pass through the Mining Office. Quickly loot the Mining Office, then head into the Mine Works. Go east until you hit a wall and then go north.

You'll see a pile of rubble blocking the tunnel and a wire connected to a detonator. Interact with the Detonator and use the Detonator Handle to arm it. Then, place the Dynamite in the pile of rubble. Go back to the Detonator Handle and use it to blow open the tunnel.

8. Head Through the Tunnel and Then Immediately Run Away

Before you run into the tunnel, you need to know that there is a massive boulder in there. It won't start moving until you walk up to it as far as I can tell.

Walk up to the boulder and then immediately run south and back toward the Detonator. The boulder should roll past you. I haven't tested what happens if it hits you, but I'm guessing that it's probably not good; do your best to avoid it.

Head deeper into the Mine Works.

9. Loot the Cutter Half

With the obstruction cleared, you can now go into the northern part of the Mine Works. There is some decent loot here, but the important thing we're going to loot is the other Cutter Half.

You can now take both Cutter Half items and Combine them in your inventory to make the Wire Cutter.

How to Open the Wire Blockage in Conscript

You can open the Wire Blockage in Conscript by combining both Cutter Half pieces into the Wire Cutter and using the Wire Cutter on the Wire Blockage.

Make your way north back through the Supply Trench and go into the Support Trench. Head up into the Mess Hall and then go through the southeast door of the Mess Hall to get into Wire Storage. Take care not to walk into the barbed wire in that room!

Walk up to the door covered in barbed wire and you can interact with it. Use the Wire Cutter and you'll open up access to the Ammo Depot, Fire Trench Access, Artillery Fire Trench, and Trench Infirmary. There are some enemies to fight here and plenty to loot, so make sure you arm yourself well before heading in!
