The Salve-Maker is the second fully optional job in Square Enix's new RPG Bravely Default 2. It requires a side quest to complete and can be missed entirely if you simply follow the main plot. However, it is an incredibly useful job which allows players to mix items together in battle in order to produce a wide variety of effects.
Here is how to defeat the Salve Maker Asterisk Holder and unlock the Salve Maker job in Bravely Default 2:
Where is the Bravely Default 2 Salve Maker Job Located?
To unlock the Bravely Default 2 Salve Maker job, you must complete Chapter 2 of the main plot and retrieve the Earth Crystal from Wiswald. After that, you will be tasked with traveling to the snowy kingdom of Rimedahl.
On the way to Rimedahl, you will encounter a town called Enderno. Enter Enderno and find the mayor, Glenn, who is marked with a blue side quest indicator. Turns out Glenn's brother Glynn is trapped inside his own dreams. You will be tasked to find a Luneclover to help him.
Bravely Default 2 Salve Maker - Finding the Luneclover
Head north out of Enderno to Crystalcap Mountain. The Luneclover is found in a glowing patch not too far up the mountain. If you wish to explore here to fight monsters and search for treasure, you may, but as you will be coming right back here in a moment it's not necessary.
While exploring Crystalcap Mountain, you will sometimes encounter strong winds. This will cause your party to move more slowly and make it easier for monsters to attack you, so be careful.
Exploring the Dream World
Glenn will mix up a Dreamsnoozer tonic and your party will enter the world of Glynn's dreams. Once you've entered the Dream World, you will not be able to leave until you have defeated the boss.
Follow the dream version of Glynn through Crystalcap Mountain. The dream mountain is exactly identical to the real one, so you will encounter the same monsters and you can pick up any treasure you missed on your first visit.
Once you reach the top of Crystalcap Mountain, you will encounter a dream version of Glenn. Unlike the real Glenn, this one is aggressive and will immediately challenge you to a boss battle.
Defeating Glenn
Glenn is a Human-type enemy with 34860 HP. He is weak to daggers, spears and lightning magic.
Glenn is dangerous because he can counter any attack made against him with either Philtre, which charms the attacker, or Contagion Agent, which deals 1500 damage to all party members and has a chance to inflict the Contagion status. He can also counter magic attacks with BP Tonic, which will raise his own BP by one.
Once his health starts getting low, Glenn will often use Gigapotion, which heals him for 5000 HP.
Bring a max level White Mage. If multiple party members are inflicted with Contagion, a White Mage can heal them using Basuna.
Equip as many characters as possible with the Berserker's passive ability Unshakeable Will, which makes them immune to charm and removes the danger of Philtre.
Because Glenn is so counter-focused, use single powerful moves rather than multiple smaller ones to give him as few counter opportunities as possible. Good options include the Thief's Godspeed Strike, the Berserker's Amped Strike or Double Damage, and the Gambler's Flash the Cash or High Roller if you have the money to spare.
Bring several Remedies (at least 10 is recommended) to cure your party members if your White Mage becomes incapacitated.
Finally, a Thief can use Steal Courage to decrease Glenn's BP. This is helpful as Glenn will frequently use BP Tonic to boost himself and then attack with Contagion Agent several times in a row.
Once you've defeated Glenn, you will return to the real world where Glenn and Glynn will reconcile. While the real Glenn isn't a bad guy, he will still reward you with the Salve-Maker Asterisk as he feels you can make better use of it than he can.
