How to Get a Backpack Upgrade

You can get a Backpack upgrade in Forever Skies by finding the associated item, researching it, and crafting or upgrading it.

The first backpack upgrade is the Small Backpack Module and it must be crafted. You must then upgrade the Small Backpack Module to the Medium Backpack Module; after that, you'll have to upgrade the Medium Backpack Module to the Large Backpack Module.

Backpack Modules do not have durability and cannot be destroyed as far as I can tell. You cannot unequip a Backpack Module if you have anything in the inventory spaces provided by the Backpack Module. On a similar note, a Backpack Module must be unequipped and placed in your regular inventory if you wish to upgrade it to the next tier.

Where to Find Backpack Upgrades

Here's where to find Backpack upgrades in Forever Skies:

  • Small Backpack Module: Scan the Wrecked Small Backpack Module at a Greenhouse Tower. Adds a total +5 inventory slots.
  • Medium Backpack Module: Scan the Wrecked Medium Backpack Module in the crashed Airship in the New Nature Territory. Adds a total of +10 inventory slots.
  • Large Backpack Module: Purchased in Tier 3 of the Artifact Trade Station for 32 Tech Fragments. Adds a total of +20 inventory slots.

Getting the Large Backpack Module can be a pain in the butt; you'll need to earn 900 Trading XP by selling Artifacts to multiple Artifact Trade Stations in the Wild Habitat and the New Nature Territory locations. That said, getting the Large Backpack Module is absolutely worth it — it quite literally doubles the size of your inventory.
