This guide will tell you how to break underwater rocks in Dinkum and make it easier for you to build bridges or terraform the land with a shovel.

How to Break Underwater Rocks in Dinkum
There are three reliable methods to destroy those pesky underwater rocks in Dinkum. None of these require any glitches or cheats, and you can use the first method as soon as you get your hands on a Shovel and Pickaxe.
Underwater rocks will prevent you from raising or lowering land with the Shovel. You also can't build bridges if there are any rocks underneath the bridge's path, so you'll need to clear out the rocks before you place one.
Sadly, you can't usually use your tools underwater; you'll need to use alternative methods to break any rocks that are deep in the water. Here's how to break underwater rocks in Dinkum!
How to Break Underwater Rocks with a Shovel and Pickaxe
You can break underwater rocks in Dinkum with just a Shovel and a Pickaxe using the correct method. This means that you can get rid of these rocks fairly early in the game. Here's how!
First, you'll want to make a path at sea level out to the rock you wish to destroy. You can do this using a Shovel or the Dirt Printer.
Your next step will be to raise land near the rock in the shape of a cross or plus symbol.
The rock you wish to destroy should be in one of the corners of the cross, as shown below. (The black and red tiles shown here are for illustrative purposes and are not needed for this process.)
Once you have the cross, your next step will be to dig out the center of the plus-shaped landmass (marked in red in the above picture). This will ensure that this area stays dry, allowing you to use tools.
A warning: it's possible to get stuck in this hole if you drop your shovel or it breaks while you're digging down. Make sure you have at least one Shovel with plenty of durability on it before you start digging down or you'll have to restart your day to escape.
You need to be at least one block above the underwater rock you wish to destroy. When you're ready, face the corner and use your Pickaxe or Jack Hammer to destroy the rock.
Finally, use your Shovel to pick up terrain from one of the surrounding walls. Water will flood in and allow you to swim back up to the surface. Alternatively, you can jump out if a hole is shallow enough or use a Glider to escape deeper holes.
This method can also be used to destroy large underwater rocks.
It might not look like it's close enough, but you'll be able to break this rock as long as you're certain you've got it tucked in the corner. If you can't place any terrain closer to the rock, you're there.
Again, I should emphasize that you'll want to make sure you have a Shovel with plenty of durability before going in the hole. It is absolutely possible to get stuck down there if you're not careful!
How to Break Underwater Rocks with Bombs
Breaking underwater rocks is considerably easier using Bombs in Dinkum. However, there are some caveats.
You'll need to be able to get close enough to the underwater rocks to drop the bomb on top of them. If the rocks you wish to break are far away from the shore, you'll either need to build a land bridge or take a boat.

You'll also need to get away from the Bomb before it explodes — bombs can hurt you and even knock you out entirely if your health is too low. It can be difficult to escape if you try to swim away. Bombs can also break vehicles, causing them to be repackaged in a green box.
Bombs are rare and expensive. You can only make them by speaking with Franklyn, and it costs a lot to make them. You'll need:
- 10,000 Dinks
- 1 Fertilizer
- 2 Bright Wire
- 1 Sugar
- 2 Crocodile Tooth
This will get you 4 Bombs in the mail the next day.
A single Bomb can destroy small rocks, and they'll also destroy some of the surrounding terrain and any surrounding plants. Unfortunately, it seems that no amount of Bombs can destroy the big rocks, even if you drop them right on top of it.
How to Break Underwater Rocks with a Diving Helmet
Destroying underwater rocks with the Diving Helmet is perhaps the easiest method in Dinkum. The Diving Helmet is a piece of head equipment that allows you to walk on the surface of the ocean floor when you dive down to the bottom with it equipped.

Using the Diving Helmet makes breaking rocks as easy as if you were on land; simply walk up to the rock and destroy it with a Pickaxe or Jack Hammer.
Sadly, the Diving Helmet is a fairly rare item. You must either find it in a treasure room in the Undergrove or a buried treasure chest on the Island Reef. You have a small chance of getting the Diving Helmet from the Gacha Machine, too.
You can also purchase it from Jimmy's Boat, but you'll need to have 1,000,000 Dinks saved in your account at the Bank to get him to spawn and it will likely cost you hundreds of thousands of Dinks. It's worth it if you have the money, though!
