The fourth and final Horizon Forbidden West Hunting Grounds you'll come to are the Raintrace Hunting Grounds. The Raintrace Hunting Grounds are located West of Fall's Edge. You'll likely pass by it while heading toward the Faro's Tomb main mission objective. These hunting grounds put you up against the most formidable machines, so earning full stripes at the Raintrace Hunting Grounds will be challenging, requiring you to use your most powerful upgraded weapons. It's also recommended you upgrade any armor pieces you have, as well as invest in healing perks under the Survivor skill tree. Otherwise certain attacks could one-shot you with no problem.
You earn Hunting Ground rewards for each challenge you complete, as well as PlayStation trophies for completing the trials. Horizon Forbidden West Hunting Grounds trophies include:
- Obtained 3 Stripes at a Hunting Ground trophy when you earn full stripes at any Hunting Ground
- Obtained 3 Stripes at All Hunting Grounds trophy when you earn full stripes on every challenge at all Hunting Grounds
To earn full stripes at the Raintrace Hunting Ground, you'll need to accomplish three combat challenges under the set time limit.
The Raintrace Hunting Grounds Shock and Remove Trial Full Stripes Guide
In the Horizon Forbidden West Raintrace Hunting Grounds Shock and Remove trial, you must use Shock ammo on a Tremortusk until it enters a Shocked state, then shoot off its tusks. In order to earn the Raintrace Hunting Grounds Shock and Remove full stripes reward, you must shoot off and gather two tusks in under two minutes. Use a combination of Shock weapons and heavy tear weapons to succeed. The Shock Warrior Bow and Cleaving Sharpshot Bow are effective. They may not do a ton of damage, but they'll get the job done at causing a Shock overload and removing the tusks. Go for full stripes in the Raintrace Hunting Grounds Shock and Remove trial to earn rewards. Take a look at our Shock and Remove full stripes video guide below.
The Raintrace Hunting Grounds Mounted Combat Trial Full Stripes Guide
Before you can earn full stripes in The Raintrace Hunting Grounds Mounted Combat trial, you must have the ability to override Clawstriders. This can be gained at the IOTA Cauldron, north of Scalding Spear. Once acquired, you'll be able to override Clawstriders and succeed at this trial. To earn the Raintrace Hunting Grounds Mounted Combat full stripes reward, you must override a Clawstrider and use it to take down two machines in under 2:30.
Begin by monitoring the Clawstrider in the center of the arena from the top of the cliff, you don't want to waste precious time by jumping down too early. When it's approaching the tall grass at the bottom of the rope, slide down and override it. You can attack the two other Clawstriders in the arena in either order, but the key will be to avoid the Tremortusk, as it can take down you and your Clawstrider in one hit. Engage the enemy Clawstriders 1-on-1, launching blast bombs from your Explosive Blastsling or targeted arrows from your bow. You can also use Shock ammo to stun the machines. Get them down to low health (but don't kill them), then finish them off with your Clawstrider. While riding the Clawstrider, you can press R2 to attack. Repeat this on the second machine in under two minutes and 30 seconds, and you'll earn the Horizon Forbidden West Mounted Combat full stripes reward! Check out our Raintrace Hunting Grounds Mounted Combat guide video below, then take on this challenge for yourself.
The Raintrace Hunting Grounds Heavy Weapons Trial Full Stripes Guide
To earn full stripes in the Raintrace Hunting Grounds Heavy Weapons trial, you'll need to shoot off one of the Tremortusk's cannons and use it to kill three machines in under three minutes. You'll need to use tear ammo, as other types will destroy the cannons. We used the Cleaving Sharpshot bow tear ammo to remove the cannon, but there's a Hunter nearby that sells the Glowblast Sharpshot Bow that's also effective. As for which cannon you should remove, the Shock Cannons at the top of the Tremortusk can be charged up to deliver a lot of damage. Use your focus to scan the components ahead of time to see which cannons you'd like to target. You can also use your regular weapons on the smaller machines ahead of time, helping to take down their health before finishing them off with a Tremotrusk cannon.
