Forza Horizon 5 is a massive game with an abundance of icons on the map to tick off, but it also sports an indepth menu system filled with useful toggles, quick access to major features, and more. It’s important to familiarize yourself with all of the various options you have at your disposal, but with so much to see and do, it’s possible you may overlook one of the game’s most useful features: Drone Mode.
What is Drone Mode in Forza Horizon 5?
Drone Mode is more or less precisely what it sounds like. Upon finding and activating the mode in the menu, you’re given control over a drone that can fly around and scout out your surroundings. Best of all, you can pretty much instantaneously switch between the drone and your car, so giving it a whirl never feels like a burden.
As expected, controlling a drone means you’re free to fly about unhindered by most of the obstacles that would otherwise slow you down while exploring in your car. Even better, pressing LB while in the mode will allow you to move at much faster speeds. Unfortunately, you can’t fly much higher than the height of your car while in this mode, but there are nevertheless some major benefits to being so free.
Most notably, Drone Mode is extremely useful for scouting out those large circular areas hiding Barn Finds. Being able to fly uninhibited by all of the ground clutter means you can move about quickly and efficiently to find the garage hiding the car you’re seeking. Once you find it in Drone Mode, it will show up on your map as a gray icon that you can then easily see and drive to once you exit back out to your car.
How Do I Access Drone Mode in Forza Horizon 5?
In order to access Drone Mode, you’ll want to press the Menu button and scroll over to the Creative Hub tab. Once there, take a look at the bottom right side of the menu to see the Drone Mode option. Once you click it, you’ll take immediate control of the drone and be free to begin exploring.
And there you have it. Drone Mode is among the most pivotal resources you can have when searching out those hard to find Barn Finds or figuring out the best angle for accessing pesky XP or Fast Travel boards. If in doubt, bust out the drone and give it a go!
