How Ship Building Works

Ship Building system uses a fairly straightforward 3D building system in Forever Skies; simply select your building piece and point where you would like to place it. You can expand your Airship from both the inside and outside of the Airship.

Airships have a maximum weight limit based on the lift capacity of the installed balloons. Ship parts, some furniture, and certain crafting stations will increase your overall weight; eventually, you'll be unable to build your Airship out further until you upgrade a balloon or add an entirely new balloon.

Ship parts can be damaged and, in some cases, destroyed. It's imperative that you craft Repair Patches and use them to fix any damage you find before it becomes a serious problem.

Adding an Extra Balloon to Your Airship in Forever Skies
You can add more balloons to your Airship as long as you have enough space between it and your existing balloon.

How to Add a Balloon to Your Airship

You can add a Balloon to your Airship by unlocking the Balloon Core blueprint; you'll get access to it after progressing the main story to a certain point. You'll need at least a few spaces between your balloons owing to their size.

Note that Balloons can be expanded lengthwise; therefore, it's best to place additional balloons parallel with existing balloons, where possible.

How to Change or Remove a Balloon from Your Airship

Unfortunately, removing a Balloon for your Airship in Forever Skies is much trickier than adding one. You cannot remove a Balloon or reduce its size if it would put you over the weight limit of the lightened load.

If you wish to move a Balloon or replace it with a different type of Balloon, you'll have to follow a certain procedure:

  1. Add a few rooms to the side of your Airship.
  2. Build a new Balloon on this temporary expansion
  3. Remove your old Balloon, and replace it with another Balloon type, if desired

Should you want to truly downsize and get rid of a Balloon entirely, your only option would be to reduce the total weight of your ship by picking up any deployed items or destroying building pieces.
