Starlight 2021 FFXIV

The holiday spirit has returned to Final Fantasy XIV once again (for those of us that can beat the queues, anyway). This time, you’ll be accompanying a small yeti and their quirrel companion as they involve themselves in this year’s celebrations. There are no FATEs or battles involved, unlike other seasonal events. Instead, there’s a lot of wandering around talking to NPCs. In this guide, we’ll show you how to start this year’s event, and where you must go to complete each quest. Our Final Fantasy XIV Starlight Celebration 2021 guide has you covered with everything to do.

How to start Final Fantasy XIV Starlight Celebration 2021

FFXIV Starlight Celebration Start 2021

As with previous years, you can start the Starlight Celebration 2021 questline in Gridania. The quest giving NPC Amh Garanjy is in Mih Knetto’s Amphitheatre at X: 10.2, Y: 9.4 — depending on how early you do the event, she might be swarmed by other players and harder to spot. Talking to her will allow you to accept the quest “A Very Yeti Starlight”.

A Very Yeti Starlight Quest Walkthrough

After taking the quest from Amh Garanjy, you’ll be tasked with following Rudy and Rissai as they complete a few errands. This starts at X: 11.2, Y: 8.4 in Old Gridania (slightly northeast from the amphitheatre).

Then, you’ll head to X: 11.7, Y: 13.4 in New Gridania — if you want to get there faster, teleport to the main aetheryte instead of walking between zones).

Afterwards, you must travel back to Old Gridania at X: 10.2, Y: 9.4 (the Mih Knetto’s Amphitheatre aetheryte shard is nearby).

Once you read through this dialogue, there’s yet another trip back to X: 11.7, Y: 13.4 in New Gridania, before finally returning to Amh Garanjy in Old Gridania at X: 11.2, Y: 8.4.

Time to Shine Quest Walkthrough

FFXIV Starlight Celebration Quest

Completing the “A Very Yeti Starlight” quest leads straight into “Time to Shine”. This time, you’ll be helping hand out presents to kids in Central Shroud. The NPC Baenfaeld can be found at X: 22.2, Y: 21.8 in Central Shroud, close to the Bentbranch Meadows aetheryte.

Once you’ve finished talking to Baenfaeld, you’ll have a chat with Rudy at X: 21.8, Y: 23.3, before moving on to X: 20.5, Y: 21.9.

Then head back to Baenfaeld, who is still at X: 22.2, Y: 21.8. After watching the cutscene, you can finish the penultimate objective by talking to Rudy at X: 21.5, Y: 23.2.

After all this, you’ll return to Old Gridania at X: 10.2, Y: 9.4 for your rewards. These are two minions based on the main characters of Starlight Celebration 2021, Wind-up Rudy and  Squirrel Emperor.

Saintly Inspiration Quest Walkthrough

FFXIV Saintly Inspiration

If you’re after a little extra questing, an optional quest unlocks after the completion of “Time to Shine”. This quest sees you accompanying the “Saint of Nymeia”, a familiar face if you’ve tried out some of Final Fantasy XIV’s side content. While you wont get any meaningful rewards from the quest itself, it’s a nice detour from your main adventures.

There are six areas that you can take the Saint of Nymeia to, though you’re only required to visit one before being able to move on. The area at X: 8.9, Y: 7.9 is the closest, if you just want to complete this optional quest.

Regardless of how many areas you visit, you finish the quest by going to X: 8, Y: 10.7, just outside the Conjurer's Guild.

Final Fantasy XIV Starlight Celebration 2021 Bonus Items

Bonus Items FFXIV Starlight Celebration

The Starlight Celebrant at X: 10.6, Y: 8.8 in Old Gridania has a few extra items available for sale. The main one of these is the Starlight Mobile, a housing item that can be attached to walls. It’s only 6,000 gil and worth picking up to decorate your personal or Free Company housing.

You can also grab the Sunshine and Stardust magicked prisms. These are a neat novelty, putting out temporary visual effects upon use. Unlike the other items, you’ll probably be able to pick these up in future Starlight Celebration events.
