Final Fantasy XIV Treasure hunting has received yet another update with the launch of Patch 6.3, bringing another map type and a new hidden treasure dungeon. In our guide, we’ll go over how to access the new Shifting Gymnasion Agonon Treasure Dungeon.

Character gathering from a tree in Elpis, with a Timeworn Ophiotauroskin Map highlighted in the gathering menu.

Acquiring Timeworn Ophiotauroskin Maps

As with the previous Endwalker treasure dungeon, The Excitatron 6000, you’ll need to gather a specific map to access the Shifting Gymnasion Agonon. This time, you’ll need to gather from Level 90 gathering nodes in Elpis — Fisher can also work, but it’s easier to do this as a Botanist of Miner.

If you check a gathering node and don’t see a Timeworn Ophiotauroskin Maps, just cancel gathering and move onto the next one. After doing this for the other nearby nodes, you can return to the one you’ve already tried and it will have reset. Keep going around in a loop until the map finally appears.

Deciphering Maps and Digging Up Treasure

To actually use maps, you must have completed the quest “Treasures and Tribulations”, which can be found in Eastern La Noscea at X: 21, Y: 21. This will give you access to the Decipher and Dig actions.

Using the action Decipher will consume the map, adding an opened version to your key items. This will then show you a small part of a map, hinting where you'll need to Dig — unlike Timeworn Kumbhiraskin Maps, Ophiotauroskin Maps will always lead you to a location in Elpis. Travelling to the area shown in the hint and using the Dig action will then spawn a chest. Interacting with the chest will spawn waves of enemies which must be defeated within a time limit. It’s recommended to bring at least 4 Level 90 party members and chocobo companions with you, as the enemies hit hard.

After defeating all enemies within the time limit and opening the chest, there’s a small chance of a portal appearing. This is what will take you to the Shifting Gymnasion Agonon.

Shifting Gymnasion Agonon Mechanics

There are few real mechanics when it comes to completing the Shifting Gymnasion Agonon. By interacting with the sphere in the center, the party leader will initiate a roulette wheel spin. The icon the roulette lands on will determine what happens:

  • Blue gem - Easy enemy summon
  • Green gems - Harder enemy summon
  • Big red gem - Hardest enemy summon (though still not too difficulty if you’re in a group of 4 or higher)
  • Silver - Summons a special enemy for extra loot
  • Purple - Will kick you out of the instance, though there is a small chance this will fail.

Shifting Gymnasion Agonon will end if you complete 5 spins, land on a purple icon and are kicked out, or if the party wipes. The further you get, the greater the rewards dropped once each trial is completed. There’s also a chance that rare mobs can spawn in the middle of the trial, dropping their own treasure chests once defeated.
