Introduced all the way back in A Realm Reborn, treasure hunting has been a common part of each Final Fantasy XIV expansion released so far. By deciphering maps and defeating enemies, it’s possible to unlock secret areas and reap amazing rewards. And now with the release of 6.05, this pastime has also properly made its way to Endwalker. In this guide, we’ll go over everything you need to know about the latest instance, The Excitatron 6000 Treasure Hunt, and why it’s worth searching for.

Acquiring Timeworn Kumbhiraskin Maps | The Excitatron 6000

Before being able to look for The Excitatron 6000, you must first go and acquire a few Timeworn Kumbhiraskin maps. The first (and fastest) way to do so is by simply buying them from other players via the market board. The price can vary by server, and by the time of day you’re buying them.

If you want to gather them yourself, you’ll need a level 90 Disciples of the Land class (Miner, Botanist, and Fisher). For the sake of speeding this process up, your best bet is to choose either Miner or Botanist for map gathering, since there’s less randomness involved.

From there, you’ll need to find Level 90 gathering nodes in the final Endwalker zone, Ultima Thule. Interact with the node and see if it contains a Timeworn Kumbhiraskin
Map. If so, gather it. If not, move to the next node. Doing this a few times for multiple nodes will keep resetting ones you've already checked, and you can keep rotating between nodes until the map shows up.

Deciphering Maps and Digging Up Treasure | The Excitatron 6000

To actually use maps, you must have completed the quest “Treasures and Tribulations”, which can be found in Eastern La Noscea at X: 21, Y: 21. This will give you access to the Decipher and Dig actions.

Deciphering the map will give you a small map segment that points to part of an Endwalker zone. Travelling to the area shown and using the Dig action will then spawn a chest. Interacting with the chest will spawn waves of enemies which must be defeated within a time limit. It’s recommended to bring at least a couple of party members and chocobo companions with you, as the level 90 enemies hit hard.

After defeating all enemies within the time limit and opening the chest, there’s a small chance of a portal appearing. This is what will take you to The Excitatron 6000.

Excitatron 6000 Room

The Excitatron 6000 consists of 5 rooms, each with a set of enemies to defeat. After completing each room, you’ll get some treasure and a choice of 2 doors. Picking the right door will allow you to progress to the next room, while picking the wrong one will kick you out of the instance. It’s all luck based, so don’t think too hard about which door you pick.

Better rewards can be found in later rooms, with the best being locked behind the fifth and final one. Some items are even exclusive to The Excitatron 6000, including a number of orchestrion rolls, the golden Royal Lunatender minion, and even another fashion item in the form of Archangel Wings.

However, even if you don’t get the rarer items, this instance is still an excellent source of gil and certain crafting items. It can be quite lucrative to take a group of friends treasure hunting, as you can each take your own maps and increase the chances of finding The Excitatron 6000.
