Our Fields of Mistria Mining Guide will tell you how to unlock the Mines, how mining works, and how you can open up deeper areas of the Mines by solving the Water Tablet.

You can't do blacksmithing without metal ingots, and the place to get metal ore in Fields of Mistria is the Mines. Unfortunately, the Mines are locked at the beginning of the game. In this guide, we'll tell you how to open them up and get yourself access to some valuable new resources.

How to Unlock the Mines in Fields of Mistria

You can unlock the mines in Fields of Mistria by reaching Town Rank 10. Once you do, the Mines will be opened via a cutscene and you can head right in.

How Fields of Mistria Mining Works

Fields of Mistria mining is similar to most other games in the Farming RPG genre — you go into the mines and dig up rocks searching for a ladder down. Every 5 levels, an elevator will activate that will allow you to return to that level of the mines.

Naturally, there are monsters in the mines, too. You'll have to avoid them or kill them with your Sword. Monsters tend to have some kind of trick to fighting them successfully such as waiting for them to get exhausted from an attack or reflecting their projectiles back at them; swinging mindlessly at enemies is a recipe for disaster.

Every 20 levels of the Mines is a new section. Each section of the Mines has its own flora, bugs, forageables, and unique resources. For example, Copper Ore is found on levels 1–20 and Iron Ore is found on levels 21–40. Unfortunately, you can't just speedrun your way through the Mines — you'll have to unlock each new area by finding certain items.

How to Unlock Deeper Levels of the Mines

Here is how to unlock all of the areas in the Field of Mistria Mines. You should hold onto at least one of the listed items so you can immediately open them up when you reach the next milestone in the mines.

How to Unlock the Upper Mines

You can unlock the Upper Mines (Levels 1–20) by achieving Town Rank 10. You'll then experience a cutscene and gain access to the Mines.

How to Unlock the Tide Caverns | Reading the Water Tablet and Opening the Water Seal

You can unlock the Tide Caverns (Level 21–40) by supplying the following items to the Water Tablet after it's been translated by Juniper:

  • 1 Ruby
  • 1 Stone Loach
  • 1 Lantern Moth
  • 1 Upper Mines Mushroom

Opening up this section will also give you another Mana Point and access to the "Summon Rain" magic spell.

How to Unlock the Deep Earth | Reading the Earth Tablet and Opening the Earth Seal

You can unlock the Deep Earth (Level 41–60) by supplying the following items to the Earth Tablet. As before, you'll need to have Juniper translate the Earth Tablet for you before you can progress.

  • 1 Coral Mantis
  • 1 Sapphire
  • 1 Archerfish
  • 1 Jade Dulse

Gaining access to the Deep Earth will also grant you the "Growth" magic spell and a third Mana Point.

How to Unlock Level 61 in the Mines

Unfortunately, you cannot yet unlock Level 61 in Field of Mistria's Mines; the areas past this point are not yet implemented in the Early Access launch version of the game.
