Our Fields of Mistria Fish Guide will go over how to obtain a fishing rod and start catching all of the fish available in the game.

Fields of Mistria has plenty of ways to make money such as farming crops or hunting bugs. One of the best ways to make a little extra cash is fishing. In this guide, we'll tell you how fishing works and where you can catch every fish in the game!

How Fishing Works in Mistria

As you'd expect, fishing in Fields of Mistria requires you to have a fishing rod. You can obtain a Worn Fishing Rod at the Tackle Shop by the beach, though it costs 500 Tessarae.

Instead, we'd recommend waiting until you've started going down the mines and gathering copper — the mines are unlocked by following the main quests you get in the mail. 4 Copper Ingots can be turned into a Copper Fishing Rod via smithing, letting you save a little money early on.

Buying a Worn Fishing Rod from the Tackle Shop.

With a Fishing Rod equipped, you can hold down the use key to cast out. Better fishing rods have an increased casting distance, letting you aim for fish further away.

Fish are represented by silhouettes in the water, their size also representing the size of the fish that you'll catch. Size is tied to the fish itself and not rarity — some common fish are large and and some legendary fish are small!

If the bobber lands in front of a fish, it will start to nibble at it. When a "!" appears, press the use key again to catch the fish. There's no minigame tied to this, though catching a fish does use up a lot of your energy.

One strategy to use for efficient fishing is to wait until you only have one energy left. This is because you can still catch fish with a single energy, and then keep gaining one back by eating a forageable berry.

Diving for Items

Occasionally you'll spot a small pool in the water. Swimming over and interacting with it will let you gather a fish or other items without using a rod. Some of these items aren't ones that appear in the fish list or are given to the museum, so they're mostly there to be sold.

Field of Mistria Fish List

Fish that are caught in the mines do not have a season or weather requirement. Legendary Fish will also only appear once you have the Tier 3 Fishing Perk "Legendary."
