Darkest Dungeon 2 has a plethora of trinkets for you to find and characters can equip up to two each. Generally speaking, only a handful of accessories will be available when you start the game, though additional ones can be unlocked as you increase your Profile Rank. However, this is also a double-edged sword, as these can dilute the loot pool of random drops. In any case, here’s our guide to help you with the best trinkets for each character in Darkest Dungeon 2.

Dark Impulse and Cultist Trinkets | Darkest Dungeon 2

Most trinkets in Darkest Dungeon 2 already have an effect on their own. However, the Cultist Trinkets do require you to have a Dark Impulse equipped as well just to activate their effects.

The best way to obtain these, outside of Cultist Encounters or Guardian Encounters on the map, is by finishing ambush or “Black As Pitch” battles. If your Stagecoach’s Flame dwindles down to zero, your party will engage monsters like Evangelists and Cherubs in battle.

Victory usually guarantees that a Dark Impulse and Cultist Trinket will be yours for the taking. Here are some decent options:

  • Misstep - +40% HP; ideal for tanks like the Leper and Man-at-arms.
  • Wounding Words - +40% damage; ideal for burst damage characters like the Highwayman and Hellion.
  • Snap Judgment - +7 speed; ideal for the Jester or Plague Doctor to set up party combos or damage-over-time effects.
  • Cruel Intent - +12% crit; ideal for crit-focused builds.
DD2 Battle Victory
Fight some challenging battles to obtain these drops.

General Trinkets | Darkest Dungeon 2

You should find a lot of trinkets for general use in Darkest Dungeon 2. These can be worn by any character, but they don’t stack. However, they don’t need Dark Impulse for activation either. Here are some examples of good general Trinkets in Darkest Dungeon 2:

  • Hale Draught - Increases HP.
  • Wolfsblood - Increases speed.
  • Raven’s Reach - Increases ranged damage.
  • Knuckles - Increases melee damage.
  • Sharpness Charm - Increases damage (regardless of type).
  • Rousing Recorder - +5 speed for rank 4 (the character behind everyone else); useful for support/healer roles since they can do setups or cure your party as soon as possible.
  • Hint of Home - +25% chance to heal 10% of the wearer’s HP at the start of their turn.
  • Brilliant Brew - +25% damage if the Stagecoach’s Flame value is above 60.
  • Clandestine Cape - Have stealth at the start of your turn; great for heroes that rely on this mechanic such as the Grave Robber.
  • Reverberating Redoubt - 33% chance to gain an extra action on hit; great for tanky classes or those who can taunt.
  • Galvanizing Goblet - +25% chance to gain an extra action when healed.
  • Calibrating Censer - Gain a strength token when you miss; useful for the Leper due to being afflicted with the blind status often.
DD2 Profile Rank Screen
If you don’t want to use up both slots, then you can just use general trinkets that aren’t tied to a specific character. You can only wear one of each type, though.

Character-specific Trinkets | Darkest Dungeon 2

Naturally, there are also gear pieces for your heroes in the game. Just like general use trinkets, you can only wear one to have an active effect. Here are our picks for the best character trinkets in Darkest Dungeon 2:

Man-at-arms Trinkets

  • Standard of the Ninth - 33% chance to gain a block token when you’re hit.
  • Price of Pride - +15% chance to gain an extra action when hit; great when combined with Reverberating Redoubt.
  • Undeserved Commendation - +50% chance to gain a taunt token at the start of combat.

Grave Robber Trinkets:

  • Foreclosure Notice - +25% chance to gain an extra action when you crit.
  • Stiff Drink - +5 speed.
  • His Rings - +33% chance to gain a strength token when hit.

Plague Doctor Trinkets:

  • The Plague Doctor does have trinkets that only she can wear. Examples include the Early Experiment, Storage Room Key, and Annotated Textbook. Unfortunately, these tend to offer resistance bonuses only.
  • You’re better off using speed-boosting trinkets to ensure that Paracelsus gets her turn earlier than the rest.

Highwayman Trinkets:

  • Rat Skull - Gain a critical token when you miss.
  • Cursed Coin - +8% crit.
  • Tormenting Locket - 33% chance to gain a dodge token when hit.

Hellion Trinkets:

  • Empty Stein - +25% damage if rank 1; rank simply denotes her position in the party, which means she has to be in front of everyone else.
  • Rotten Tomato - +25% chance to gain a crit token at the start of your turn.

Runaway Trinkets:

  • Pile of Ash - +25% burn effect success chance.
  • Carved Toy - +25% chance to gain a dodge token.

Jester Trinkets:

  • Busker’s Haul - +33% chance to gain an extra action when you kill an enemy.
  • Royal Summons - +25% horror resistance
  • Severed Finger - +25% chance to gain a dodge token when you miss.

Leper Trinkets:

  • Uncommon Seashell - +25% max HP.
  • Inevitable End - +50% chance to gain a strength token at the start of combat.
  • A Simple Flower - Gain a block token if you miss; useful since the Leper tends to be afflicted with blind often; wear either this or the Calibrating Censer.

Occultist Trinkets:

  • Scalded Skull - +8% crit if the Stagecoach’s Flame value is below 40.
  • Similar to the Plague Doctor, you’re better off with a speed-increasing accessory here so the Occultist can acquire unchecked power earlier.
DD2 Grave Robber
Some character-specific trinkets offer powerful boons.

Get More Trinkets | Darkest Dungeon 2

Last but not least, you may also slightly increase possible trinket rewards that you can obtain during your runs. Just try to look for the Trinket Organizer from vendors or as random drops. This can be equipped as a Stagecoach upgrade via the Wainwright NPC to improve your chances of getting accessories.

Just be sure to discard the clutter that you don’t need. Any item you throw away, including trinkets, will add to your Hope tally/Profile Rank leveling XP at the end of your run.

DD2 Trinket Organizer
Equip this on your Stagecoach to increase the chance of acquiring more trinkets as drops. You may also buy the trinkets that pop up in the selling pool for vendors.
