cyberpunk 2077 endings

You've made it to the end. Maybe it crept up on you sooner than you though, considering how long it was for the Witcher 3. No matter, however, it's time to see the tale through. This guide will show you various combinations of Cyberpunk 2077 endings which can be unlocked, and luckily they're all pretty manageable to achieve.

All told, there's five base Cyberpunk 2077 endings, and four Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Endings, plus a new main game ending. On top of the way you choose to end the game, however, there are four epilogues following the endings. Which epilogue you get depends on a choice you make during the final main job you have to do in some of the endings.

Obviously, from this point on there are spoilers. If you do not want to know about how Cyberpunk 2077 ends, do not read further.

Cyberpunk 2077 Endings - Base Game Endings

All of the Cyberpunk 2077 endings have to do with the relationships with your chooms you've developed throughout the game, including Johnny. If you've already done the various side jobs with the likes of Panam, Rogue and Johnny, and the other various romance options, you're good to go.

Note: only the Panam side jobs, ending with Queen of the Highway, and the Rogue and Johnny side jobs ending with Blistering Love are required for all endings. Your romantic partner is someone you can call before the final job and will show up in the epilogue.

Speaking of epilogues, they don't match up one to one with the endings. Some endings can go between two different epilogues depending on a choice. The epilogues are:

  • Where Is My Mind (Ending 1)
  • All Along the Watchtower (Ending 3)
  • New Dawn Fades (Ending 2 / 3)
  • Path of Glory (Ending 2 / Secret)
  • No Epilogue (Ending 4)

Below are the 5 different endings and how to get the various epilogues associated with them. I've limited the spoilers, but given you a bit of what happens with the big choices in some of the endings if you want some idea.

Also, make sure to make a save point at the point of no return warning, so you can load it back up and play through these all yourself if you want.

Cyberpunk 2077 Ending 1 - Choose Hanako, Trust Arasaka

There are no prerequisites for this ending. If you so choose, you'll get a series of missions where you work with Hanako. No big choices to make either, as you will always end up with the epilogue Where is My Mind.

So, if you want to see what happens when you trust one of the corpos, give this a shot. I'm sure it will make Johnny real happy.

Cyberpunk 2077 Ending 2 - Choose Panam

Here, you'll get the opportunity to call up Panam and ask for her help in the final job of assaulting Araska Tower. If choose her help, Panam and the nomads will aid V to their end. In Panam's ending, there are two possible epilogues: New Dawn Fades or Path of Glory.

The big decision here is basically choosing who lives: V or Johnny. Depending on who you choose, you'll get either or of the two epilogues.

Cyberpunk 2077 Ending 3 - Choose Johnny and Rogue

Here, you decide to ask Rogue for her help. When you do, this also means Johnny is going to take control of V's body and work with Rogue to assault Arasaka Tower. This one can either end with the All Along the Watch Tower or New Dawn Fades epilogue.

Similar to Panam, this comes down to a big choice with V. Here, this is from Johnny's point of view as he is controlling V's body. The choice is whether to selfishly keep it yourself as Johnny or let V have his body back and Johnny joins Alt. Each gives one of the two different epilogues.

Cyberpunk 2077 Ending 4 - Suicide

I think we all know exactly what this one is. It's self-explanatory. There is no epilogue with this one, and if you do choose it, the game ends right there. Roll credits.

Cyberpunk 2077 Secret Ending - Do it Alone

This is the "secret" one tied to your relationship with Johnny. There is no indication anywhere what that level of relationship is, but it supposedly has to do with your relationship with Johnny throughout the game. Things like if you chose nicer dialogue options with him, did the side jobs that let him take control of V's body, and so on. This may be tied to the "Synergy" (needing to be at 70%) when you bring up the inventory, though that is not confirmed yet. Supposedly, choosing really nice dialogue options at the oil fields in the Chippin In side job is important, but not the Night City Legend one. As of now, there is no way to tell if you meet the requirements, other than the ending just working for you.

To get this option, you have to sit around a wait a while before Johnny starts talking and offers the choice of going it alone to you. This is considered the most difficult ending with the most difficult enemies, so make sure you're prepared. If you die during this ending, the game will end, no way to retry that ending unless you made a save.

This ending will give you the Path of Glory epilogue.

Choice in Cyberpunk Phantom Liberty That Says Help Songbird or Capture Songbird

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Endings

In CDPR's newest expansion, Phantom Liberty, there are four distinct endings, and some of these endings will unlock a brand new ending for the main game.

As for how you access these endings, that is a bit more involved. Read on for the different Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Endings.

First, play through Phantom Liberty's main story until you reach the Firestarter story mission, and this is important because there is a narrative choice in this mission that greatly changes the entire third act. Different levels, boss battles, setpieces, climax; everything. That choice is when you and Songbird reach the Neural Matrix in Kurt Hansen's compound.

You have two choices during this section: Help Songbird escape, or help Reed bring Songbird in.

In this ending, you help Songbird escape Hansen's compound. This is also where you betray Solomon Reed and commit treason against the NUSA.

After you complete this mission, wait until Songbird contacts you. This will lead to the finale for this narrative branch: Killing Moon.

Play through this mission as you like until you reach the section on the train with Songbird.

Once this scene is concluded, choose to hand over Songbird to Reed.

This can be done two ways. Either call Reed and negotiate through holocall. Alternatively, it can happen when you confront Reed on the launch pad.

After that, let Reed take Songbird away. Was this the right thing to do? After everything you did? Good luck puzzling that out.

This is the other side of the narrative branch. Once again, help Songbird escape during Firestarter and play through Killing Moon as normal.

The difference here is your confrontation with Reed on the launch pad.

Put Songbird down and exhaust dialogue options with Reed until you get the option to draw your weapon.

Choose this option, shoot Reed, then secure Songbird her ride out of Night City.

Congratulations, you have given Songbird her freedom. You've also killed Idris Elba, potentially sparked a new war between global superpowers, become an enemy of the NUSA, and completely locked yourself out of the new epilogue.

But at least you can take Reed's iconic Pariah Tech Pistol as a consolation prize. Hope it was worth it.

Now for the other narrative branch. At the section with the Neural Matrix, choose to help Reed capture Songbird.

Unfortunately, doing this backfires, causing Songbird to go on a rampage.

Fight your way out of the compound, regroup with Reed, and you should enter this narrative branch's finale: Somewhat Damaged.

Fair warning, the final stretch of Somewhat Damaged plays out more like a horror movie than an action- RPG. Good luck.

Play through this story mission until you finally reach Songbird.

Choose to spare Songbird's life. Shortly after, Reed will arrive to take her away.

Not only is Songbird now back in NUSA custody, probably for some unseen experimentation, her sense of self has been completely scrambled.

At least in this ending you get a medal of service from President Myers. Way to go, hero.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty Ending 4 – King of Cups

Once again, help Reed during Firestarter and play through Somewhat Damaged to its conclusion.

Instead, give Songbird the release of death.

This will transition into a similar ending sequence as the King of Pentacles ending. Except this time around, President Myers sweeps the whole operation under the rug, dresses you down, and pays you 5k eddies as an insult.

Furthermore, Reed loses all of his standing, credibility, and influence. Which means no new epilogue for you.

Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty New Ending – Who Wants To Live Forever

If you got the King of Swords or King of Pentacles ending, wait a few days for Reed to contact you.

He managed to pull some strings. Getting together the best netrunners and ripperdocs in the world to save your life; all on the NUSA's tab. This will unlock one last story mission called Who Wants To Live Forever. Head to Misty's shop, and head to the top of the roof.

After you've finished your dialogue sequence with Johnny, an airship will fly in with some NUSA agents. Join them. Enjoy the ride. Take in one last look of Night City before going under the knife.

That's it. No big betrayal. No secret alternate final level. But once it is all said and done ask yourself... was it worth it?

When all is said and done, you'll be plopped back in Night City with some extra goodies. You can then do any gigs or anything else you still have left. The game will be in the state before the point of no return.
