In this Core Keeper Skills Guide, I'll tell you how to level up your skills and how to unlock higher damage, better armor, and even prevent death. We'll also teach you about the new Magic and Summoning skills!


Core Keeper Skills Guide | How to Level Up Skills

There is no skill point buying or level-up system in Core Keeper. Rather, each of your skills level up as you perform the associated task with that skill. For example, every time you cook a meal, you level up your mining skill a little bit. Eventually, you'll get a skill point to spend in that particular skill tree.

Aside from gaining skill points, leveling up your skills will also confer passive bonuses. Leveling up the running skill increases your running speed, leveling up the melee skill increases your melee damage, and so on.

As best as I can tell, most skills increased by the same amount for each level. Values for some of these skills are estimates based on the game continuing to follow that pattern.


Mining Skills

As you might expect, Mining skills focus on mining. You can earn points in this skill by mining blocks.

Leveling up the Mining skill will passively increase your Mining Damage, allowing you to dig through terrain faster.

Efficient Excavation
  1. +2% mining damage
  2. +4% mining damage
  3. +6% mining damage

Meticulous Miner

Requires 5 points in Meticulous Miner or Self Mending Alloy

  1. +3.0% mining speed

Self Mending Alloy

Requires 5 points in Efficient Excavation.

  1. Gain +2 durability on your tool, when breaking walls containing ores

Running Skills

Running skills focus on various buffs you can get to your movement. You'll passively gain points in this skill tree as you move around.

Leveling up the Running skill will increase your base movement speed, allowing you to move through the world faster.

Endurance Runner
  1. +5% less food drained when running
  2. +10% less food drained when running
  3. +15% less food drained when running
  4. +20% less food drained when running
  5. +25% less food drained when running
Balanced Stance

Requires 5 points in Endurance Runner.

Melee Combat Skills

Melee Combat skills enhance your melee damage and add extra effects. You can gain points in this skill by attacking enemies in melee.

Leveling up the Melee skill increases your melee damage by a percentage.

Quick Strikes
  1. +2.0% melee attack speed

Building Anger

Requires 5 points in Quick Strikes.

  1. Gain 2% melee damage every time an enemy is hit, stacks up to 2 times

Vitality skills focus on improving your life. (The stat, not your general state of being.) You can gain points in this skill by killing enemies.

Leveling up the Vitality skill increases your max health by a flat number.

  1. +6% of all skill points added to max health
  2. +12% of all skill points added to max health
  3. +18% of all skill points added to max health
  4. +24% of all skill points added to max health

Strong and Healthy

Requires 5 points in Maxed Out.

Range Combat skills are all about attacking from afar with slingshots, guns, and various other projectile weapons. You gain points in this skill by attacking enemies with ranged weapons. There are also some defensive bonuses mixed in with this skill tree.

Leveling up the Ranged skill increases your ranged damage by a percentage.

Rapid Shots

Gardening Skills

Gardening skills are all about farming crops. You gain points in this skill by harvesting crops you've grown. There are also some nice offensive and defensive bonuses in this skill tree.

Leveling up the Gardening Skill increases your chance of harvesting an extra plant by a percentage.

Grateful Gardener
  1. +5% chance to gain a seed when harvesting plants
