Our Core Keeper Atlantean Worm Boss Fight Guide will tell you how to tackle this bonus boss that lurks under the water of The Sunken Sea.

There are a number of bosses to beat in Core Keeper, including side boss the Atlantean Worm. One of the three optional end game foes, you'll need to gather a few items to summon this beast from the watery depths. This is how to defeat the Atlantean Worm in Core Keeper.

Where to Find the Atlantean Worm in Core Keeper

Given this boss' name, you'd be right in thinking you'll come across the Atlantean Worm in the Sunken Sea. It travels throughout the area and you can see it swimming below the surface if you're exploring close to its location.

Like the rest of the bosses in Core Keeper, the Atlantean Worm has its own scanner. Crafted at the Ancient Hologram Pod, the Atlantean Worm Scanner requires:

  • x15 Ancient Gemstone
  • x15 Mechanical Part
  • x30 Solarite Bar

With a Scanner in hand, head towards the Sunken Sea to use it. The scanner will mark the monster on your map, allowing you to follow its movements through the biome.

How to Summon the Atlantean Worm in Core Keeper

You may be able to see the boss under the water's surface, but you can't actually attack it. You have to use the Bait Pillar to summon the Atlantean Worm. The Bait Pillar isn't an item you can craft, however.

Using the Bait Pillar to summon Atlantean Worm in Core Keeper

To get the Bait Pillar you need to spawn the Brave Merchant into a habitable building with a Nuclear Battery. To get a Nuclear Battery you need to find an arena in the Shimmering Frontier. Complete the challenge to get a reward chest. As long as the Brave Merchant isn't already alive in a home somewhere else, you'll get the battery.

Once you have it, you want to build a home for the NPC that's no bigger than 8x8 and no smaller than 3x3. Put in a bed, some torches, and the Nuclear Battery. You don't want to use a Pedestal to show off the item, however, as it acts like a closed chest. The NPC won't spawn in that situation. You can add in a table to put it on or just place it on the floor.

Leave the building and return a few moments later to see the Brave Merchant has moved in. Speak with him to purchase the Bait Pillar. It costs 2,895 Ancient Coins. You only need to get one, but you can purchase his whole stock if you want to face off against the boss multiple times.

How to Win Against the Atlantean Worm | Core Keeper Boss Fight Best Strategy

Atlantean Worm weakness in Core Keeper

The Atlantean Worm is a tricky boss. It swims around the battle area, often towards you, but is only able to be damaged in certain areas. The different sections of its body are invulnerable unless they are marked. You can look for the health bar or this marking when aiming.

Given this, and the fact that it's a completely water-based boss, fighting on a boat is your best bet. Use ranged physical or magic attacks to destroy each carapace section.

As the battle continues and more damage stacks on the Atlantean Worm, it'll break into smaller worms and start sending out electrical charges. When a small worm is completely killed it'll explode into multiple electric projectiles. You'll need to dodge getting hit by the sparks as well as any charging worms.

In total, the Atlantean Worm can separate into roughly ten smaller worms before finally being defeated. Once you can continuously aim at the damaged sections the battle goes rather quick. Having reinforced and upgraded ranged damage, as well as a few Greater Healing Potions, will ensure victory on the first try.
