Our Brighter Shores Woodcutter Leveling Guide will tell you how the Woodcutter profession works and what you need to do to level it up quickly.
The second episode of Brighter Shores takes place in Hopeforest, a massive wooded area that is just outside of the first town. The Woodcutter profession lets you make the most of the trees by chopping them down for lumber — read on to learn everything you need to know about the basics of the Woodcutter profession!
How the Woodcutter Profession Works in Brighter Shores
As you might expect, the Brighter Shores Woodcutter profession is all about cutting down trees. Fortunately, Episode 2 of the game takes place in a forest that has plenty of trees for you to chop down!
You'll need specialized tools before you can cut down your first tree. Morauce's Pointy Implements in the town of Timberwell Green is the place you'll need to go to buy the saws, hatchets, and other items that will help you carve your way through the forest.
Wood gathered with the Woodcutter profession can be stored in the Lumber Bank in the Carpenter's Workshop in the southern part of Timberwell Green. You can then use the Carpenter profession to turn this wood into useful items that can be sold or further crafted into other items.
A unique aspect of the Woodcutter profession is that the vast majority of trees also double as Passive Activities. You will, of course, need some specialized tools in order to participate — Loppers and Baskets, specifically — but you'll have plenty of options for getting some special items while you're logged off.
Finally, it should be noted that the Woodcutter profession is used to break through barricades known as "Brambles" that are placed in a few key locations on the Hopeforest map. Most of these Brambles block shortcuts, but at least one location completely blocks a new area. Get Woodcutter to Level 8 to get access to these zones.
How to Level the Brighter Shores Woodcutter Profession Fast
As with all professions, you'll want to have an area-specific XP potion active at all times, if possible. The XP Hopeforest Potion requires a bit of alchemy skill and some of the plants that can be gathered in Hopeforest.
Types of trees tend to be grouped together, so you can go in a loop around an area and chop down the trees in a line. The first trees you have chopped down will probably have regrown by the time you get to the end of the line. Try to avoid areas with hostile (red) enemies; while you could take the opportunity to level up your Scout profession, it will ultimately slow down your progress.
Unfortunately, the wood piles up rather quickly. It may be impractical to run back and forth to Timberwell Green to store it every time your Backpack is full. If you're not in desperate need of money or Carpenter XP, I recommend leaving wood on the ground until you need to move on to the next set of trees.
Chopping down trees aside, the Woodcutter profession is intricately tied in with the Carpenter profession. You should be able to level both professions at roughly the same pace. You'll need Woodcutter levels for multiple quests, especially the Forgotten Things Quest which requires a whopping 45 levels of Woodcutter.
