Our Brighter Shores The Obelisk Quest walkthrough will go over how to complete this Chapter 1 story quest, including why it's worth doing early.
Brighter Shores The Obelisk Quest Walkthrough
After completing Brighter Shores's early story and being given free reign in Hopeport, you can head east to reach the Town Gates. Heading up the stairs on either side of the gate will allow you to reach the top and talk to Commander Hackett.
He attempts to give you some new gear, but the key to the chest containing it is stolen by a Goblin Thief. Head to the South Walls and you'll find the level 10 thief, who shouldn't be much trouble if you've been leveling the Guard profession.
Killing the Goblin Thief and showing the key to Commander Hackett will add two "untuned" Uncommon Wall Guard's Swords to your inventory. The commander tells you to go get these tuned at Hopeport's Obelisk.
Hopeport Obelisk
Head west from the Town Gates until you reach Brannof Boulevard, then go south to find Hopeport Obelisk. Unfortunately for you, the obelisk is broken due to a missing spike. Your only hint is that it was likely washed along via the river.
Exit Hopeport Obelisk, then go east to the Town Square. From there go south until Eel Street, the east into Wilhope Crossing. The Missing Obelisk Spike item can be found in the river.
Head back to Hopeport Obelisk and talk to the guards. Neither of them understand how to actually attach the spike, and they give you the obelisk's Instruction Tablet. Use it from your quest tab, and your character will also be stumped.
Talking to Corporal Merissina will point you towards Naybeth, someone who might be able to help. Naybeth can be found in a building on the south side of the Town Gates, and he'll give you four Sigil Tiles when you talk to him.
Once again head back and talk to Corporal Merissina, then check the Instruction Tablet once more. The tablet shows where you should place each tile, with each corner showing the corresponding symbol.
Wellambran the Cryoknight
Placing all of the Sigil Tiles summons Wellambran the Cryoknight. While they're (mostly) fine with fixing the obelisk, Wellambran is unable to use magic.
This can be fixed by heading all the way back to the Training Ground and talking to Anjay Sandorman. Asking him about the Cryonight will send him over to the obelisk, where you can talk to him again.
You'll now finally be able to fix the obelisk by using the Missing Obelisk Spike on it. From there, interact with the obelisk and attune both swords — you can equip one of the attuned swords now without issue if it's better than what you already have.
Finally, head back to Commander Hackett to complete The Obelisk Quest. This nets you 10,600 Guard XP, and you now have permanent access to the Hopeport Obelisk. If you don't need the Uncommon Wall Guard's Sword, sell it at the Quartermaster.
