Brighter Shores Giant Crystal Item Locations Guide

This guide will tell you where to find all of the items you need to restore the Brighter Shores Giant Crystal and advance the story of Episode 2.

Hopeforest is haunted by corruption in Brighter Shores' Episode 2 and the Dryad has asked for your help in fixing it. Polish your Scout skills and ready your woodcutter's axe — it's time to defeat some evil spirits!

Where to Find the Brighter Shores Giant Crystal Items | Nullify the Corruption Quest Walkthrough

The Nullify the Corruption Quest (which is part of the Episode 2 Main Quest) requires you to run around Hopeforest and collect some specific quest items. It will require a bit of preparation to complete it.

Preparing for the Quest

Here's what you'll need to do:

• Find the Dryad, open up the Magic Cave, and join a faction.
• Get the Woodcutter profession to Level 8
• Buy 1 Jar
• Get the Scout profession to at least Level 20
• Craft or purchase at least 20 20% Healing Potions

Heading to the Crystal Clearing

Once you're ready, you'll have to head to the Crystal Clearing. You'll find a giant crystal glowing with corruption inside. Unfortunately, you'll also find your fellow Guards — and they're not in good shape.

When the chaos settles down, the Dryad will tell you that the crystal is filled with corruption. You'll need to find specific items and bring them to the crystal, starting with 2 Glowing Beetles in the immediate area. She'll then send you out into the world to find the rest.

Finding the Glowing Mushroom

First, go west to the Overgrown Trail, south through the Bramble Path, and into the Mushroom Grove.

You'll find a Glowing Mushroom to collect here; grab it and it will be put into your quest inventory.

Repairing the Hopeforest Ferry

Next, make your way back to Timberwell Green and cut down 2 Ash Logs. Take the Ash Logs to the Carpenter's Workshop and process them into Ash Planks. Keep the four planks in your inventory. Head east to Mine Road West and head directly south through Tree Lined Trail and Tree Lined Track; you'll end up at the Hopeforest Ferry.

You can repair the Hopeforest Ferry with the 4 Ash Planks. Hop on and you'll have to fight an unusual battle — a Giant Newt will jump onto the ferry.

Fighting the Giant Newt

The Giant Newt will jump onto the Hopeforest Ferry and slam down on a portion of the surface marked by orange tiles. Do not stand on these tiles — you'll take some damage and you'll end up stunned. When the Giant Newt lands on the Hopeforest Ferry, you can counterattack and do damage to it.

After a few hits, the Giant Newt will slide back into the water. You'll need to repair the broken planks while the Giant Newt is swimming around. Again, take care to move when the Giant Newt moves in for an attack.

This is mainly a battle of attrition. It will take a few minutes, but you'll be able to whittle down the Giant Newt and kill it. You'll then be able to finish your trip on the Hopeforest Ferry.

Grabbing the Glowing Fern

The Hopeforest Ferry will take you across the river to a small area with two zones. There isn't much of interest at the moment here save for one item: a Glowing Fern.

Pick up the Glowing Fern and it'll be added to your quest inventory. Then, use the Teleport spell to go to the Hopeforest Central Portal Stone.

Two Heads Are Better Than One

We have one more item to get. Unfortunately, it's protected by a pretty tough create.

Head north from the Hopeforest Central Portal Stone until you get to Stump Clearing, then turn left. Go to Bear Clearing, then head north and cross the bridge into Two Headed Bear Clearing.

You want to get the Glowing Honey hanging off of the tree. Attempting to take it, however, will start a fight with the Two Headed Bear.

The Two Headed Bear is a more traditional fight. You'll have to watch out for the bear's special attack — when it stands on its hind legs, it will slam down on the ground in a wide area. Back away when the Two Headed Bear rears up and then move back in to fight.

As with the Giant Newt, you'll have to avoid the area-of-effect attacks and then move back in to do damage. When you defeat the Two Headed Bear, you'll be able to collect the Glowing Honey with a jar.

Healing the Crystal

You now have all of the items you need. Head back to the Crystal Clearing and use each of the items you've grabbed on the crystal. This will complete the quest and start you on the path to opening up access to Episode 3.
