Our Brighter Shores Forager guide will go over some tips on how to gather items in Hopeport, along with some tips on leveling this Profession.
How the Forager Profession Works in Brighter Shores
As the name suggests, Forager in Brighter Shores is one of the basic Professions used to obtain items. Said items are required for a number of other Professions including Chef and Alchemist, so it's always worth leveling Forager.
To start with, the first few items you can forage can be obtained simply by clicking on them and selecting "Forage". However, many later items require the use of specialist tools before you can gather them.
These are a Secateurs, Trowel, and Pond Net, with higher tiers of each required as you level Forager. Tools are purchased at the Forager's Warehouse in the north east side of Hopeport. Tools can be enchanted in the Enchantress Shop opposite the Forager's Warehouse for a small XP boost.
As you increase your Forager Profession, higher level versions of each ingredient start to become available. These give more Forager XP, and are used for higher level Chef and Alchemist recipes. If you need to gather lower level variants of an item, select the "Past action" option after clicking on them.
Note that Forager only applies to areas in Chapter 1, Hopeport. Later chapters like Hopeforest use their own gathering Professions, meaning you'll need to level those up to gather the relevant items in those zones (though the Professions are functionally identical.)
How to Level the Brighter Shores Forager Profession Fast
Leveling Forager is a simply a case of grinding out the highest level item you can. Items generally come in groups of three, and can be found in two areas that are close to each other. This lets you loop six items at a time before you have to wait for them to respawn.
XP gains can be increased further by using XP Hopeport potions, crafted via the Alchemist Profession. Many of the ingredients required for Alchemist are gathered using Forager, so it's good to level both Professions alongside each other.
Each tool also has some XP boosts tied to them, with higher level tools giving a greater XP percentage bonus (though you'll need to increase your Forager level before these can be bought.) For an extra fee, tools can also be enchanted at the Enchantress Shop by Old Street East. Since the XP boost this gives is relatively small, it's best to save this until you have lots more money later on.
From level 20 Forager, you'll be able to unlock passive activities that let you level up Professions even while offline. This is much slower than leveling manually, but is great if you don't plan to play for a while or are more active on another character.
Other than that, just follow the list of items shown in the Forager Profession tab. Since items will increase in level as your Forager level goes higher, you'll keep returning to the same areas during the process of leveling to 500.
